  • A hastily thrown together cacophony of mud, ugly bass and sloppy guitar, with a nice vocal (p.2)

The intro was a bit long for me with just the sparse beat and vocal samples, but that's subjective of course.   The actual "sound" of the drums reminded me a little of In the Air Tonight.   But when the pads started coming in around 2:00 and began slowly building up it had enough to keep me interested, through the "breakdown" around 5:00 and of course the clean guitar during the end section.

Believe it or not In The Air Tonight was my justification for using such a simple, repetitive beat (or perhaps Mama?) with such a lo-fi sound! I may shortern the intro though.

Ha!   That is pretty cool though... always loved that song for what it is.

I enjoyed that - I really do like the vocalist.

I liked the vocal/intro build. Cool the way you brought her voice from back to front. I also liked how the vocals atmosphere seemed to narrow and widen when brought up front. after the intro, it kinda started to wonder off looking for a place to go, but then started to collect when the the guitar come in. Interesting and enjoyable post.

Best regards,
Dean.

Yep, letting hang out you are.

Where's the fire!

I like the way this is arranged, just when I start to stray, you add something to bring me back.

The guitar at 6 min is cool.  I don't think I've ever heard you play guitar before.

way to go homes.

I like the direction your heading!

Thanks Markus, it's one of the few free vocal samples that I've collected over the years that is actually any good. I still have no idea how I managed to set the right tempo for it, because it was a straight wav with no tempo info and I usually dick around for ages trying without success to match tempos (without resorting to quantizing etc).

Thanks Dean, glad someone noticed the up-front-widening effect! I enjoyed doing that.

I don't know that I would call the drums muddy but I definitely would not call the guitar work sloppy.  The tempo is slow but it hits a nice groove and you have a series of changes that keep one's interest.  The build-up as the song proceeds is very nice and I really like the long fade at the end.

Nice one!!!
