Holy crap! This flashlight can take photos without my knowledge, monitor all network activity, know what other apps I have, and even reconfigure my phone.

I don't care what your excuse is, Dave.  I *really* don't want to stumble across a picture of your junk on the internet!

But if we DO stumble across said picture... At least it's well lit!😀
Does anyone think Gibson probably sold all our info? I know I do

Now, I'm think what other apps are doing this on my smartphone?
We need a new smart app to search for these culprits.

Yep.  Almost all of those handy little "flashlight" apps are data miners.  So you get a free flashlight, while some hacker in Russia gets all of your private data to do with as he pleases.  Free?  Not so much.  Smile and say ÐŸÑ€Ð¸Ð²ÐµÑ‚!  :D

There are definitely unscrupulous app developers on the play store, unfortunately. As a developer, they are getting better at enforcing stricter controls, but I'm personally very careful about what apps I download on Android too (just like installing files on Windows!)

For those asking about BandLab the app - as listed on the Play Store:

This app has access to:

Photos / Media / Files
read the contents of your USB storage
modify or delete the contents of your USB storage

-> so that you can upload audio files/photos/video, or download them

Storage
read the contents of your USB storage
modify or delete the contents of your USB storage

-> same as above, for local storage of projects to work offline, etc

Camera
take pictures and videos

-> for photo/video shouts

Microphone
record audio

-> for recording audio

Other
receive data from Internet
view network connections
full network access

-> for cloud access, projects recorded on PC/iOS/Web etc

run at startup

-> for push notifications

control vibration
prevent device from sleeping

-> so your phone doesn't go to sleep when recording your masterpiece!

Hope that's interesting to you guys!

Meng, you're awesome. TY so much for that info.

I may reinstall the phone app. Not sure yet.

What about the Windows application in Startup in Task Manager for BandLab? Do we need that?

I feel like my iPhone flashlight comes on at random times when I'm filming with my phone. I definitely don't have it set to come on but sometimes it does. The first time it happened, I was trying to secretly film a crazy person singing along with her iPod on the subway. She was going nuts and I thought worthy of some footage. So I opened the camera app and very nonchalantly held the phone at the required angle, trying not to make it obvious. Only the flashlight went on and it shone right in her face. Needless to say, I had to get off the train a few stops before my intended destination.
