  • CbB: Multiple PRVs not retaining settings

Most of my projects (created in Sonar) contain several instances of PRV docked in the undocked Multidock, each displaying a different single softsynth or otherwise some combination of midi tracks. I also have a separate screenset dovoted to drums with a PRV displaying the drum pane. This makes it easy to quick switch back and forth between editing different softsynths. With a single click I can resume editing drums and with no more that two clicks I can go to edit any other softsynth.

But this doesn't seem to work in CbB. Whenever I switch to another screenset and back again, the PRVs all become reset. Apparently they all revert to the settings of whichever one was last viewed. So having multiple instances become pointless as they are all identical. Sometimes they all display the drum pane when the drum pane is not appropriate. It's a mess.

I hope this gets fixed soon. Meanwhile I'm sticking with Platinum.

After you have set your screenset how you like it, do you lock it? (make sure there is a padlock to the left of the screenset name?

I rarely ever lock screensets, but I always lock the contents of each multidocked tab.

I've now lust tried locking the screensets. I didn't seem to make any difference, i.e. it didn't prevent the PRVs from resetting.

Make sure you don't have a lens enabled?

I'm just curious; is no one else having this problem? Because I'm not at my daw now but I recall something like this happening for me in CbB too.

I work the same way Kev999. I have never used Screensets. When working in X3 Producer I would have separate  PRV tab at the bottom for drums softsynth, bass softsynth, keys softsynth , etc. all with separate tabs to click on and edit at will. I can't get CbB to work the old way I liked either!! It was a major part of my workflow!! BUMMER !!! Maybe I am doing something wrong ??

Maybe not. I suspect that the programmer who developed the revamped PRV filtering feature overlooked the fact that there can be more than one instance of PRV in a project and therefore only allowed one single set of settings to be saved.

Apparently multiple instances of Staff View work OK. It's only Piano Roll View that has the problem.

I hate to be a bad news bear but this is not a bug. They changed the way the PRV works several months before the end of SONAR. The new method is to select tracks from the Track Pane. Saving a project or even changing screensets with multiple open PRV's will always result in the same track being displayed in all of them as you have found.

There are benefits to the new way and I have gotten somewhat accustomed to it, but IMHO, asking for the return of multiple locked PRV's would be a valid feature request.
