  • CbB: Multiple PRVs not retaining settings (p.2)

I hate to be a bad news bear but this is not a bug. They changed the way the PRV works several months before the end of SONAR. The new method is to select tracks from the Track Pane. Saving a project or even changing screensets with multiple open PRV's will always result in the same track being displayed in all of them as you have found.

There are benefits to the new way and I have gotten somewhat accustomed to it, but IMHO, asking for the return of multiple locked PRV's would be a valid feature request.

I would probably still class it as a bug. The way it works now looks nonsensical. Try it yourself before you dismiss it.

I have tried it. I dismiss it because it doesn't work anymore.

I only say it is not a bug because the (Bakers?) clearly don't want us to use multiple PRV's. They want us to select and filter tracks in the PRV track pane. That is just the way it works now.

Don't forget about the inline PRV. Some of the workflow you are looking for might be found there.

It's not only about multiple docked instances, it's also about screensets. Different filter settings in each screenset for Track View, Console View, or any other view don't reset when switching between screensets. PRV shouldn't reset either. It's unlikely that this was deliberate. More likely an oversight.

After you have set your screenset how you like it, do you lock it?

I rarely ever lock screensets, but I always lock the contents of each multidocked tab.

I've now lust tried locking the screensets. I didn't seem to make any difference, i.e. it didn't prevent the PRVs from resetting.

After setting up every PRV screenset, lock it.

Screensets and PRV was worked on right before Sonar closed doors. but in my opinion it was made better.

Locking the screensets doesn't preserve the PRV filtering. It doesn't even lock in the drum pane.

Sorry. It does here.

I created all different PRV settings in each screenset, than I locked the screensets each one at a time.
after close and restart each one has preserved its settings including the drum pane.

I can't make that work. If I close and reopen a project, all of the PRV's in each locked screenset are displaying the last track I viewed before closing the project.

Aside from the PRV issues, it is not normally necessary to lock a screenset, assuming that you want it to remain in the state in which it was last viewed. The only reason to lock one is for making temporary changes and having it revert back to the so-called "locked" state afterwards.

I find that I need to lock all screensets if I want my multiple PRV (Multiple PRV in all of those screensets)
to be as I left them, and it works.
BUT ... I'm using the version of SPLAT right before the new PRV was introduced.

The new PRV was the deal breaker for me for moving forward.

Same here.
