Getting to know how to manage the drums in Sonar Artist, I'd like to compose a bunch of drum patterns and save them into a folder and then be able to recall them when I want to use them. How can I do this? All I want to save is the midi data. I messed around with this for awhile but couldn't find a "save pattern" or "save clip" option, or anything similar. Hopefully this is easy to do (it should be). If anyone can clue me in I'd appreciate it.

MIDI clips may be dragged to the desktop or any other Windows folder. The folder may be opened either in Windows explorer or the SONAR media browser.

Create your drum folders with the windows file explorer.
Then drag and drop the clip from Sonar direct into the windows file explorer.
The file is named as the clip within Sonar.
Also you can drag and drop from the file explorer to Sonar.

You can also buy a little tool  - Fences - from Stardock 10$.
So you have an open folder instantly open on your desktop:
http://www.stardock.com/products/fences/
So you can create a folder portal for example to h:\drums\midi-patterns\...

Thanks for the replies! I'll give it a try later, when I am able.

Further question. I was able to save a drum pattern in a folder. What I ended up with in the folder was 4 separate files, all related to the one pattern. When I copied them into the CW project, they worked (). Question is this: Is this what I should expect to see, separate files for the 1 pattern? Or maybe I didn't quite copy/drag-drop correctly. Could someone be specific about exactly what they copy from the CW project into the folder? I.e., what view are you using, anything else relevant. Thanks.

SONAR creates one file per clip. If you want a single file, select the clips and run "Bounce to Clip(s)" in the Track View Clips menu to create a single clip first.
