Maybe I am missing something.  The PLAY manual says simply map a pan envelope to PLAY's pan control, and you should be able to automate it.  I right click in the VST track where the audio is sent from the instrument, and select ENVELOPE then CREATE TRACK ENVELOPE, then PLAY VST x64, which then opens a a list of automatable parameters in PLAY - i place a check in the box next to INSTRUMENT PAN and edit the resulting envelope - but it does not move the pan control in PLAY and nothing is panning.  I don't get it.  In the VST UI, read and write enabled, etc.

Am I missing something or doing something wrong?

Are you using PLAY Orchestra? If I remember correctly pan controls the main main for the sound...

not the pans where the mixer is located

Yes, using PLAY Orchestra from East West.
What did you mean by "main main for the sound"?  In the PLAY Instrument interface, there is a pan dial - which if I manually turn it - it changes the "mic placement" basically - which results in panning.  But no envelope I put in either the midi or synth track controls that pan control, and the envelope that is available in the list of instrument specific envelopes called "instrument pan" isnt controlling anything within PLAY, so I'm not sure what it does.

I can insert a track pan envelope on the synth output track - and that is a workaround and accomplishes what I want - but it doesnt seem like the "correct way" to do it - and that doesnt solve the problem that the other 30 or so instrument specific envelope options in the track don't control anything within the PLAY instrument interface - let alone anything at all.

I'm stumped.

I don't think you can automate the three pan switches placed above the mic positions.

But the Pan above the level meters is the one that can be automated..

You can setup sonar to display the envelopes in either the original midi track or in the synth output track.

Man they really need to change that. I want to be able to control the mic levels and activations as well. Wonder if PLAY Pro is ever going to exist on this earth :/

I need to try this. I have the gold version though. So will need to use choirs instead.
