  • [SOLVED] Selecting audio clips per QWERTZ-keyboard?

Is there any way to select audioclips per QWERTZ-keyboard?
I tried the help function, it must be possible - but I do not get it.
I want to have a single keystroke to go from one audioclip and jump to the next audioclip (to the right) in the same track and mark the whole clip. If this were several keystrokes I can try to automate it.
Because this would speed up my workflow for (automatic) naming and exporting clips.

Thank you.
I also have seen this in the help.
But I don't get it to work. It happens nothing.

I use a standard US keyboard and OS. With numlock on, hitting 0 on the keypad brings up the enhanced edit mode cursor and the options work as documented. It may be different for a non-US keyboard or OS, I have no experience with either.

I see Num0 may be assigned to a custom shortcut. Is it possible you have reassigned Num0 to a different function?

Thank you. I had reassigned Num0 to an other function.
Now it does.
But it is only possible to move the cursor left and right, and select the clip under the cursor.
It is not possible to jump from an audioclip to the next audioclip. Because a script does not know how many keystrokes it must go to the right, to have the cursor over the next clip.
So I can not make an automatic script that jumps from one clip to the next and names the clips for example from 001 ... 047 with a counter variable.
Unfortunately it is not possible to name clips in the event list. And it is not possible to select one audioclip after each other.
We need this because we digitaze tapes, and have thousends of clips. The clips must have a name.
Unfortunately there is no comfortable editor for naming clips.

Then we have to continue working with the mouse

CTRL+4 = previous clip
CTRL+6 = next clip

for all the hassle, its probably better to stick with your mouse.
I use F2 to rename clips. I also do what you do (Digitize old recordings. 4TRK cassette , Reel, Records, EXC).
I establish a base when the files are first imported. That way when I drag them in to Sonar they are Pre-Named.
I also use a Mackie Control (MCU) which allows me to quickly select clips. This alleviates the "Click here, Click there, Click here" issue. Are you using a control surface of any kind ? if you are not, it would be a great investment. especially if your doing work in bulk.

Using the inspector and F2 will get you half way there.
I've tried a lot of different things myself. there is no easy way around it.

I should also note, I probably don't do as much work as you. (not 1000's of clips)
But because my machines are a bit of a rarity (Tascam Studio 8, Tascam 488, Sony TC630, Multiple brand 4TRK cassette) I get a work. The thing is having the machines, but the most important part... having the machines that work with quality results .
Im sure you know what I mean.

Thank You - this was very helpful.
But the help file does not work as described.

Maybe the keyboard mode has done a few versions and years before.
So "ALT+6" does mark the clip, but also marks also the few seconds of the next clip.
Because Alt+6 does not only select the clip - it jumps simultaneously a few seconds to the right and marks the beginning of the next clip.
"9" does mark the clip. But I cannot find a keystrokes to unmark the clip and jump to the next clip without copying the clip to the next track. So I have always to close and open the keyboard mode.

At the moment this works:

MARK_CLIP:
        Num0
        CTRL+6
CTRL+6    (must be repeated, or it will select itself)
        9
----> mouse macro to name the clip in the inspector with counter variable
            ----> focus back to SONAR
        Num0
goto MARK_CLIP

I will try it in the next days if a script works reliable.
Thank you.

3 toggles Select Mode. Any cursor movement after entering 3 deselects the clip.
