  • My 32bit plugins do not load in 32bit or 64bit Sonar

Some of my 32 bit plugins do not load into Sonar 32 bit and 64 bit Sonar Professional 2016.04 unless I run it as a administrator app! I have no problem with this but when I run Sonar this way my novation controller keyboard doesn't work! What is really a shocker is that my Dimension Pro won't load either in non-administrator mode! Wondering if this problem is fixed in the latest version of Sonar? The good thing out of this is Dimension Pro, in one of my songs in 32 bit Sonar, was later used when I loaded it in the administrator mode, I don't have to open that song in administrator mode to play the song! I don't understand this mess!

Are you the administrator ? This is how to check:

Open User Accounts by clicking the Start button, clicking Control Panel,
  • click User Accounts and Family Safety,
  • You will be able to see you name and the account type.
  • Check if you are shown as administrator
  • You can change the account type by clicking on change your account type.

Also, What OS are you using ?

It doesn't matter that you are the owner and administrator.

Locate the installer or the .exe , right click it and choose "run as administrator"
This will run the program with an elevated set of rights that a normal administrator does not have.

That's what I do already, locate the Sonar app and right click on it to run it in administrator mode but then it does not work with my Novation keyboard controller which is controlled by automap. I think this a Sonar bug that Cakewalk has not addressed!

I understand you are running it as Administrator (and that's what you don't want) but did you physically get a look using the instructions I left in my first post?
Sometimes we don't realize it but we are logged in with a User account.

I seem to remember having to run the Dim Pro installer in Standalone mode, "As Administrator" before it would work properly as a plugin inside SONAR.

But this was several years ago.

Some files and paths on c:\ have no rights for Executing and Writing. Not even for the admin.
But for the installer or apps like SONAR.
A lot of 32-bit-plugins are from ancient times of XP. And are not made for newer systems with complicated file rights.
It would be a nice experiment to place this vst-plugins to an other disc - just for test - where the rights are for anyone.
I don't use 32-bit-plugins.
