I use Sonar Platinum when talking about it. I think Splat is just an abbrev (why is abbreviation the longest word in the English language?!!?)

Anyone want to take credit (or blame) for coining that acronym? Anyone have a better suggestion?

I believe Craig came up with that along with several other ideas when Platinum first came out and people were looking for a shorter way to refer to it. It was obviously meant as a joke, but it caught on.

On the way to the hospital I was to be named Bradly Ronald Anderson.
My sister, in the car, God bless her, realized my initials were going to be BRA got my name changed before I arrived. Didn't make much difference though. Still got by arse kicked.

When Studio One first came along I thought it was a dumb name. What would they do, I wondered, when version 2 came out? Call it Studio One 2?  Of course, that's exactly what they did.
 
Names stick, even when marketers try to change them. I still say "Fruity Loops". I thought when Microsoft changed the trashcan to the recycle bin it was a joke, a dig at their recycling-obsessed hometown. I still delete files, not recycle them.

As I said in the other thread about this from last week or so..."Yes, it was me, I did it in a post as a joke...I never expected it to stick. I'm not sure if Cakewalk has forgiven me or not..."
 
As to the Recycle bin, I guess you could say you're recycling memory space
