Bulk emails are a tricky business. I support it in my own software, and my customers (mostly hotels) use it for advertising, thank-you letters and announcements. I give them all kinds of selection criteria for building the mailing list, such as customers who've done business in the last N days, customers flagged as VIPs, customers within a specific market segment or postal code, and so on. But users eventually screw up or get lazy, sometimes resulting in comical or embarrassing email blasts, like inviting organizers of a memorial service back for another banquet. Every time I get an ad for a product I've had for years, I just smile and hit Del.
