I am having some issues with Sonar Platinum crashing. Here are the steps before the crash.
 
1. Audio track with a Melodyne section.
2. Freeze that track
3. Save the Project
 
CRASH!
 
Any ideas on how I can make this work?

Which version of Sonar ?
 
im not sure what "Audio track with a Melodyne section" is. But have you tried using it as a region FX and then instead of freezing it, Use the Bounce to clips function to render it.
 
Are there any plug ins on that same track you are using Melodyne on/trying to freeze ?

Melodyne 4 essential
Sonar Platinum 2017.06
Focusrite 6i6 gen 2 ASIO driver
 
It is a Melodyne Region FX that is in the Audio track. There is also Slate Digital VMR on the track as well however other tracks with the Slate VMR freeze fine and then save with no issues.
 
I do not want to render or bouce to clip the track or FX as I am looking to freeze everything to do a VOX tracking session. I'm sure I can do that, but at this point I should be able to freeze the track, record vocals, and then unfreeze it later to do a final mix no?

I would send a support ticket to Cakewalk.

Did you update to the latest version of Melodyne? It contains a fix relating specifically to freezing tracks in Sonar.

I did not but I will try that now.

He's running 4.1.1.011 (as per his screenshot). That is the latest version.

Have you tried some basic tests:
- Remove Slate VMR from the FX bin
- Try to freeze the track
- If the track freezes without crashing, you know slate is probably the offender.
 
My buddy's studio was having problems using Slate VMR with sonar.
just that plug in alone was causing crashes.
