I'm trying to convince myself that I need a 2nd monitor but I just can't go through with getting another one. What are your opinions on the subject? Thanks in advance !

1st monitor on the regular screen and the 2nd for Console View makes the work flow much faster especially when you have many tracks. I was working up to 4 monitors at one time (one for PRV editing and another one holding all the VSTs, Staff view , etc).

Since my system crashed and now rebuilt - I'm back to single monitor for the time being till my work flow gets heavier - but I felt I'm not working as fast now compared to splitting views across other monitors.

For me it's about pixels to light up.  I have had dual monitors almost as long as they've been supported.  Currently two 23" monitors, each 1920 x 1080.  With Sonar, the main window with TV/clip pane are left, multidock and floating VST windows go right.  More pixels in the same space would get too small for eyes, so ...

As soon as the magic price number gets crossed, I'll get a single 46-ish" 4K so I can have the equivalent of four of what I have now arranged 2 x 2.

I could NEVER go back to one monitor.

Hell, I'm trying to squeeze out the desk real estate to add a 3rd.

I currently have 2 monitors hooked up, BUT...but...but, not side by side . I have a 24" 1920 x 1080 which is eye level and use it for the DAW. The 2nd is a 32 HDTV (720p) which won't fit side by side on my desk and I've put it on the top shelf (mostly to watch movies).

Would it be better to just use the 32" for my DAW or get a smaller monitor and use 2?

I like to have my VST GUIs on the second monitor. You'll never know how you managed with one once you take the plunge!

Great idea above to have the console on second screen, I'll have to try that. Or maybe I need a third one...

I have 2 monitors but like Mesh mine are not together. One is 27" and at my desk,  the other mirrors the first is 24"
but is across the room at my MOX8 to use when at the keys.

When you get the second monitor, you will wonder how you ever coped with just one!

For whatever the worth, you might want to take a look at current prices for HDTV's, as they work fine for use with Sonar, and are QUITE a bit cheaper than a corresponding computer monitor.

For example, you can find a 32" HDTV for as cheap as $119.99, which I recently did.  I also bought a 40" HDTV for $249.99
