I haven't made the jump to X1.  Basic editing in 8.53 was frustrating enough with clips always moving when I double-clicked on them.  When I saw that CW laid an egg with X1, I decided to hang tight for the time being.

I am curious to hear the new compressors in X1 stack up, but the rest of it sounds like an exercise in frustration.  Here's hoping for a radically improved X2!

I'm in exactly the same camp.

I don't think I ever said thanks for the template. I'm still using it as the basis of my main template, so thanks for that.

As for X1 it does seem a bit like marmite, some love it, some hate it. I wouldn't believe all the bluster, some of us find it an improvement. Trying it for yourself is the only way you'll find out though.

I personally think that X1 as it is now, is a VAST improvement on 8.5.

I resent having to go back into 8.5 as I have to temporarily unlearn all my X1 shortcuts and relearn the 8.5 ones.

Things I like about X1:

1.    Stability
2.    Pro Channel
3.    Edit filter
4.    Midi Editing
5.    Groove Clipping
6.    Automation
7.    Smart Tool
8.    GUI
9.    Bundled Synths
10.  Bundled Fx
11.  Multidock
12.  Browser
13.  Screensets
14.  Control Bar

15. 64 Bit engine
16. Event Inspector
17. Midi facilities
18. Instrument Definitions
19. Workflow

Thanks for all you do for the daw community! I use your templates everyday!

I've found X1C to be great to work with - I like it much better than 8.53. I wouldn't listen to the laying an egg crowd. How you tried the demo?

Like Karl I need to thank you for this as well Jonas.

This template truly got me going with regard to routing and mixing in Sonar.

Every sub-grouped track template I've ever made since using this and seeing how it was done is a nod to the work you did here for us.

So thanks again...(and a bump...)

Hi Everyone,

Sorry for the off-topic intrusion on my old thread.  I currently have a piece entered in the Garritan Composer's Competition.  The first phase of the competition is purely a FaceBook popularity competition.  The top 10 vote getters then get reviewed by a panel of judges at Make Music (Finale) for their musical content.

If you got any mileage out of the old mixing template I would certainly appreciate your vote on FaceBook.  You can vote one time/day through this Thursday.

Thanks for your vote and here's a direct link: https://apps.facebook.com...ntry/visions-of-paris/

Has this template ever been updated to the X1/2 versions?

Unfortunately the template has not been updated.  I'm stuck on Sonar 8.53 and I also do a fair amount of work using Reaper these days.  X2's reverbs and compressors are better that what was included in Sonar, so it shouldn't be too terribly difficult to get equivalent or even better sounds using X2.  I wonder if some of the crazy routings import correctly into X2.

I just don't care for the X interface and a new set of bugs to go with it.  I'd be very content if they just fixed the issues in 8.53, but I guess no one will ever make everyone happy.

Glad that you got some use out of it.

Does anyone know of any similar templates/tutorials for mixing for X1/X2?
