I am wondering if this annoying bug (or bugs) has been corrected in a newer version of Sonar.
  1. If I remove a track from a folder, I never know where it will go: bottom of the track list, into another folder, top of the track list, or even into a hidden folder.  It can be hard to find in a 70+ track project with many folders.
  2. If I clone a track, I also cannot predict where it will go?
Is this any better now than it used to be?

I don't know about the first part of your problem, but I do know that when cloning tracks one can choose the destination track from the clone menu.  Usually, when I remove a track from a folder, it goes on the first track above the folder, but once, it went to the first track below the folder.

Hi. 1: When I remove a track from its folder, it is placed below the folder in my case.
2: As mentioned above, you can choose where to put the cloned track in the dialog window.
All the best.

Removing a track from a folder (using the right click menu item Remove From Folder) doesn't always put the track below the folder.  Sometimes it puts it above.  Though to be honest I'm not exactly sure what makes it go the direction it ends up taking.  So I'd say this is still not changed.

Example of the moving above (and a bizarre rename issue maybe):
In blank project make 4 audio tracks (will be named Track 1, Track 2, Track 3, Track 4)
Select Track 2 and Track 3 and right click and choose Move To Folder->New Track Folder.
Now unselect the folder and Track 2 and 3 (important you do the unselect) and select track 3 and choose Remove From Folder.
It moves above the Folder 1 and is renamed Track 2 while Track 3 stays in Folder 1.
(yes, try it, no it makes no sense)

If you rename the 2 tracks in the folder (rather than leave them with the Track 2 and Track 3 names) the track that moves above is Track 3 (and it's name doesn't change after you have renamed it).

I'd love Cakewalk to see if they could clean up stuff like this.

Interesting observation. I've noticed same. Never found a pattern as to why it sometimes puts the removed track above or below, but it is annoying.

Konradh, I noticed you are still using Sonar X1d Producer.  In my experience, X1 was the least stable of all the X series Sonar Producer programs.  I suggest if you upgrade to Sonar Platinum, you will have far fewer problems, at least that has been my experience.

I've got 4 tracks in a folder .
I select the 3 first tracks to remove from the folder.
The 3 tracks goes above the folder.
Then I select the last track to remove from folder .
The last track goes below the folder.

It would be great to be able to move a track from a folder directly into another folder

Isn't that possible, if you have both folders open? Drag and drop..

I just tested, and it is doable, if both folders are open..
Only by drag and drop, though..
