....and of course some of the old "forum know-it-alls" don't post much these days!

Now we have a new-ish one now who is apparently here to squash all free thinking.

Yes, the forum is not as much fun as it used to be. Things are squashed rather quickly, for the good, I suppose...

Speaking for myself, I still read the forum most days, but I don't think I post a tenth as much as I did a couple of years ago. Mostly, I'm just too busy, but nearly all of my working days are spent using Sonar. So probably the point that the program is currently very usable and relatively bug free (at least for my use cases) applies here.

I would like to have more time to participate. Sometimes I see a post asking something and think "I know the answer to that", but just don't have the time to reply. Must try harder.

I for one have missed your input John.

That's a very weird statement?
There's only one person here who truly does "Know it all" and scook might be the reason we need not answer most threads most days. Even if he doesn't know the answer, he always knows where to look :0

And user peer to peer forums are all the same as far as I've noticed here and elsewhere, with both good and bad answers, anyone who comes looking for answers needs to be aware of this and filter the advice given. Generally these day's most of the answers here are excellent and to the point.

I'll also agree with gswitz  Go dig up threads from the X1 days and earlier and most were Computer issues. We just didn't have the horsepower and memory back then. And the software have become less buggy and most don't have those sort of issues anymore. A well built PC and everything up to date - problems solved.

I've noticed the middle of the week and late at night (west coast N. America) is generally less lively these days.
The thread subjects are far more varied, perhaps even more obscure. Many threads are started and the OP never returns. It's just a kinder gentler forum with way less *!#% disturbers than 4 years ago. My opinion is that the moderators have done a good job keeping things on target, though, I miss Alex, before he got barred, he was a lot of fun.

Bitflipper and John - you guys have been around for as long as I remember!

And yes, the program is much more stable.  And yes, I am constantly trying to catch up from a 3 year absence.  And yes, there is always something new.

But sadly, I have forgotten a bunch of this fine program.  It has such a steep learning curve (all of the DAWs I have tried do so it is not a criticism of Cake).

Alex got barred?  Which Alex?

Did CJ disappear into professional recording land?  And there used to be a couple of girls of the female persuasion (susan?) that were around.  I don't see them.
