Is it possible to send a bank and program change to a Yamaha MX 49/61 from a Sonar Event List?  If so, how?
Thanks.

Welcome to the forum.
I have an MX 49 and was able to change the bank and patch by using the Insert menu and also by clicking the Insert Event button in the Event list.
How I did it and how you will have to do it may be different, as I'm using an XP computer and antiquated software. If you can list your OS and which Cakewalk program you are using, that will help us to help you better. Your Audio Interface, too.
Or, open the Event List and then press the F1 button on your computer to bring up EL Help, which is what I did.

Hi Greg,  I think I have it (nearly) figured out. I insert 2 Control events in the Event view.  The first I assign number "0" and give it a value of 63.  The second I assign the number 32 and give it a value of from 0 to 8 depending on the number in the LSB column of the "Voice List" in the downloadable MX Data List.  After that I insert a Patch change, and here the trouble begins because about half of the PC numbers in the Voice List don't correspond to what the number calls up on the MX.  So I have to hunt around for the right one.  Perhaps there's no way around this
until Steinberg comes out with an updated Voice List or Cakewalk comes out with a MX instrument list.  I'm not holding my breath.

I'm using Home Studio 7 on Windows 10.

Thanks, Ken

There was a post here awhile back with a link to a utility to extract the Instrument Definition and use it in SONAR. I used it and it works. Then you won't have to fiddle around with anonymous numbers.
It wasn't that long ago. I'll see if I can find the thread.

Here it is:

Run it, import the ID into SONAR and you should be ready to rock and roll!
Or classical. Jazz. Whatever.
It's all good.

Hello again, Greg.  I downloaded the Melas software and got it to produce a Sonar .ins file as advertised.  Loaded it into my Sonar Home Studo 7, and it works perfectly.  Assigning Yamaha MX banks and patches to channel/parts in Sonar couldn't be easier.  Thanks much for the tip.

You're welcome.
I'd also like to say thanks to whoever pointed it out to me, but I can't remember who it was.
