A few weeks (months?) ago, I asked about a Casio thing that could sample anything and play it back on a keyboard about the size of a good sized poor boy.

I never found the thing I was looking for, but then again, my descriptions were lacking the information to really dig into what I was looking for.

While I was on a plane the other day, I put on some Jean Michel Jarre.  Here is the sound... it is the one carrying the melody.

Any idea where to find that?

Thanks

PS I know I had some Art of Noise that used a comparable sample, but I cannot find it.

You probably could use any vocal blips. Using some bitcrushng and decimation.

Some vintage analogue synths from NI or Arturia.

Sounds like the vocal samples from an old mirage. Ta is the syllable I recall.

According to this article

Zoolook was done entirely using a Fairlight CMI and that vocal sample certainly sounds like one to my ears. FYI you can get an iPad app (Peter Vogel CMI) which uses the exact same samples as the original Fairlight CMI for around 9.99usd.

Wow a bunch of great answers.  I am going to search for a Fairlight plugin or sample library.  I love that vocal sample used in that song.
