  • Audio transpose has stopped working

I haven't used it for a while, but I used to be able to transpose an audio track by using "Process " > "transpose" and specifying the alogarithm and the number of steps.  If I do this now, the status bar stays "mixing down audio."  When it finishes, the track goes blank,  but no new waveform is ever drawn, and the track is silent.  The only way to get it back is to use  the undo function .

Anyone have any ideas what's going on?

Had this problem a week ago and fixed it. Here's how.

I bounced all the project to clips: Ctrl-A clips, bounce to clips.
Go play outside for a while.
Come back when it's all done and try again.

I needed to try a wholesale modulation from G to A on the band and singer to see how it felt
and had the exact same problem.

Hmmm...I tried to transpose something recently and nothing happened, no "mixing down audio" or anything. I didn't have time to test further so I used Melodyne instead. I'll try again and if it doesn't work, file a report.

If I select more than 1 clip in over more that one track that happens. - nothing.

What's the quality like when you translate all the audio a whole step up or down?

Acoustic guitars sounded clean but stretched tight and had to be retracked.
Clean electric licks and bass fared well enough to be believed and left alone.
Did the Vox with Melodyne Essential as it works best.
Piano was midi.

WOW you guys just had me scared there for a moment ...In truth ,this is not something I normally do with my audio .
I just tried it with 2 tracks using Process audio , Transpose , Radius Mix Advanced ...
Both went up a whole step ....

My guitar track sounded fine , the summed mix transposed OK but I sure did not like what happened to my high end at all , my cymbals sounded very swoosh y w artifacts  ...

That's way I'm doing individual tracks . Basically I have a 16 track master and the singer has decided he wants the song up a whole step.  If I mix the whole backing track, then transpose it , the cymbals often do sound a bit odd.  If I just transpose the bass and guitar tracks in the multi track ( the keyboards are midi - Vst tracks and can be manually transposed without pitch shifting) this avoids changing the pitch of the drums, which is where most artifacts seem to occur.

Sure I get your workflow , it makes perfect sense .Transposed drums after the fact do bite

I just did the most recent SONAR update and I didn't know if something got broken . That's why I did it the way I did . Quick , down and dirty just to see if all was well ...

all the best ,
