$399- on special? My weak currency means that's nearly half-a-month's income. I cry in my pillow at night about this..

The inventors of that program deserve the full price.  That it is on sale shocked me beyond belief.  I pulled the trigger after thinking about it for a mere day.  Pricing those who can't afford it out of the market means more work for me.  So just get it now...before the sale ends.  It will stop being painful after you begin to use it.

I may pull the trigger on the Editor version for now for $199.  As a piano player, I'm most interested in the Polyphonic (DNA Direct Note Access, and for vocals, the refined pitch/vibrato tools,

But for now, an additional $200 more for the Studio version only adds 3 more features: Multi-tracking and Multitrack Note Editing, Sound Editor, and Quantize to reference track. If I really think I'd use the additional features needed for just a home studio I'll upgrade to Studio in the future when another sale comes along.

RME UFX

How many months you had no food to get it?

If I remember correctly,  the best price from Sonar to Melodyne Studio 4 was: $150 immediately after registrations for Editor 3 + $150 for Editor 3 -> Studio 4. So $300 in total. That was strictly time limited process, so $399 just as "a special" sounds reasonable.

I own Studio 4.  Cool program, but I'm glad I didn't pay full price and depending on how one wishes to use it, it can still be painful.

If you run a full time business recording, I'd think it would be a necessary tool these days to have.  If you are not generating a sizable revenue and "upgrade" to editor or studio, maybe not so much.

I upgraded to Assistant about a year ago, so it's just $149 to move up to editor. Bit of a no brainer so I've done it.

For me that was other way around. I am home hobbyist without any revenue (from that activity). I am thinking long time about any new synth, effect, etc. But I was not thinking a second before getting the Editor and later studio: for piano, versions below Editor are useless; finding intended tempo in played without click by non-pro multiple tracks is much simpler when I see all tracks separately; finally melodyne can create some "music" from the content which is too far away from it originally (entry version is too limited).

I'm thinking the same, I mainly want the expanded pitch correction tool palette.
