I was thinking and hoping that if for some reason there is hardware limitations and things wont be advanced with the VS and Sonar then maybe we would be lucky enough that if another hardware release happens in the future to follow X2 then perhaps there would be the same type of deal that happened with the Digi Design Control 24.... Discontinued for the C24 but offered reduced pricing on the C24 for registered customers.

To be honest, that would not impress me at all. My current position is that I can't imagine buying Cakewalk-branded hardware ever again. That's a position that could change, if 1/ the stuff broken in x2 v700 support gets fixed and 2/ breaking v700 support stops being a routine part of every update.

Hi John

For me that would be my wish if for some reason it really was a hardware / Software limitation problem.

Has any one said that this is the case ?

I might have missed a post somewhere

Cakewalk is working on some bug issues, they will try to address as many of the reported issues as possible regarding the V700 system. Like they did last year with the X1 bug fix upgrade, they may release the X2 bug fix upgrade at NAMM 2013.

So Ryan, any news from a product manager???

We're tired of speaking for nothing.

I understand empty promises are not an option but I do not understand why it is STILL a surprise when we point integration problems.

Since X1.

Come on.

Anybody test the product already?

Can we have a refund? lol....

In fact, just one question:  Is there any plan to bring the vs700 back to full compatibility with Sonar X?

That's so true.

Have anybody here encountered any bug issues other than what's listed above?

MORE BUGS:

1) The CMD+SEND command does not work at BUSes (it only works at tracks).

2) In fresh X1 projects (open > new project  or  file >new project), the multidock won't open up upon pressing PIANO ROLL or CONSOLE. (Once you open it via the mouse, switching via those buttons is possible - once the multidock is minimized via the TRACK button, you'll have to open it up again via the mouse.) It does work in the tutorial projects, or old 8.5 projects though.

#2 seems to be an X1 problem rather than VS700, so it won't get fixed. Just wanted to be sure to mention it - maybe that helps in the X2 developement / bug fixing.

You guys have a lot more patience than me... after the last session with X1, I got really peeved when I realized my work flow was now trashed as soon as I went to the mix stage.

All is still fine for tracking but when you get to mixing, this thing now sucks unless you just want simple fader and buss control and if that's all I ever wanted, i would have stuck with the Mackie... or the Fostex, or the Behringer.

The 700 was bought by us to enable complete integration with the flagship software. That no longer happens and there is NO sign that this will change. Main supporting fact is that even the Cake staff no longer use this gear.... over. Gee I wish I was wrong.....

Cheers.

Things will change if you provide a detailed description of what works and what doesn't. In the mixing stage what doesn't work and have you reported these things to Cakewalk and the bug reporter? . . . . . . . . .

Have these bugs been reported to Cakewalk bug reporter yet?

I think CW is working on bug issues for the V700 and X2 but if they don't know what people are experiencing directly there is a chance they may be missed during the update.

Quick point of order: someone has said this "cakewalk no longer use it", and that's been picked up and repeated enough to become a factoid it seems. This is incorrect; you can see one being used in the X2 webinar, for example.

Hiya John... I'm guilty for sure. Sorry, I should qualify this generalization in the context of X1. I haven't upgraded from X1 as a result of the issues and what I personally fear it means for the 700 gear I have so have not seen any X2 video content for the obvious reasons.

If anyone has X1 footage or links to any, I would dearly love to see it. Please let me know. Thanks.

In the meantime I'll go for a looksee in the hope there is some successful X1 usage with the 700C.

Cheers.
