This is incorrect; you can see one being used in the X2 webinar, for example.

Hi again John.... been looking... can you tell me where they use the controller? I've skimmed through most of the webinar and watched a lot of it and can't find the use. I can see it sitting there but can't find where they actually use it for anything?

Am I looking at the wrong video maybe? Is there another one somewhere or am I missing it??

Gotta say there are some GREAT features in X2 though.. Rmix looks good and the new reverb I watched on another video also...reverb sounds killer.

Cheers.

They did not use it in the webinar at all, they just had it posing there. Not in the webinar I watched anyways.

Thanks Dahjah... I actually had my hope up!

Cheers.

PS: the webinar showed some stuff I thought was good though so I've bought the upgrade tonight and will give X2 a chance with the 700... fingers crossed I don't want to throw it out the window like last time.

There's some awesome stuff in X2 from what I see. I just don't want my hand on the mouse and keyboard constantly.

I kinda find strange that all these really nice features in X2 (and even X1) are related to faster access with the mouse and more efficient keyboard/mouse combo, while we have a equivalent on the console: dedicated buttons and the cursor.

The mouse we have with the console is the edit cursor. I'm not sure why we can't move between track scenario (midi, tracks, lanes, etc) like Seth show in the X2 videos.

Clicking some areas bring focus to certain function (zoom, drag/drop, select, etc) or to certain aspects (piano roll, enveloppe/automations, etc) and we have buttons for all this on the console.

We even have one more modifier key (COMMAND) than a computer keyboard, which should logically multiply the possible options.

I'm sure everything can be integrated. I mean every single new aspects. Auto-zoom, lanes show/hide/add/remove, EASY multiple time/clip selection (not sure why it is not implemented yet), alternate snap settting, etc. I mean this is ALL within reach.

On the other hand, I understand Cake' staff may not be sleeping alot these times seeing the incredible job they made with Sonar since X1. X2 looks absolutely brilliant. Let's face it, this must have taken a LOT of efforts to get it there and it is really IMPRESSIVE to see in action.

Unfortunately, new things bring new bugs and everyone here can understand this.  We've been good number2 during all the X1 cycle but now that X2 is there, building on the X1 roots which have been stabilised, I think we deserve some time to be brought back to full integration, and I've yet to be convinced that it is technically impossible.

Please, use the same ingeniosity that made X2 so impressive with a mouse/keyboard and apply it to the vs700C. It will be at least AS impressive... and you'll win some die hard fans among us and bring the VS back as the best controller with Sonar.

+1 Dyo.... you raise a valid point/detail that 'maybe' has been not yet revealed? Perhaps X2 being what it is now 'may' permit the final solutions we have craved.

If only... ?

Cheers!

So, here it is in November and my upgrade to X2 has been less than pacifying. I have the VS-700 set and love it after learning to live with it's idiosyncracies through various upgrades. Unfortunately, now during every mixing operation when I go to open the pro channel, X2 shuts down and disables the drivers for the VS-700 so that I have to restart the computer. X1 did not do this.
I am not loving this at all. I have sent the dumps to cakewalk probably 10 times. I have removed as much of the FX and tools as possible and streamlined my mixes as much as I can without changing the songs.
I have not seen this mentioned yet.

Hey funboy this sounds very UNfun.

Def not the way it should be and sounds like something is possibly corrupt software wise. I would not be suspecting X2 as the culprit.

I would be uninstalling the 700 drivers and reinstalling them.

At least you've sent the dumps off...

Cheers.

Ryan,

What seems a little strange is that Roland is still advertising the VS as the "Ultimate Solution for Music Production".

http://www.rolandus.com/products/details/1098/496/features/

It's also listed in the 2012 Computer Music Production Guide and now comes with X1 Producer and Rapture (instead of Sonar 8).

Are they really still selling these things? If so ....
