Cake are definitely asleep at the wheel and given recent changes, there is a lot to wonder about IMO Bent.

You can easily see why PT is the king....alas....and it does pain me to say so but please show me an alternate reality. If only they could actually get their crap together....? Oh well...? Roland is not making money and here are the consequences?

Perchance but to dream....

Cheers.

I think according to tradition Roland got a lot of new toys in the works, and that prevents them from supporting some of the products as long as people think they should be supported. Their synth market is a prime example of that. But the VS market is hinted to be either completely and finally supported, or expanded according to ryan's post. I think Roland will get the VS OS functions totally corrected before they totally stop supporting it. How can they still sell a product where some of the listed functions don't work as advertised?

Roland/CW has really shot themselves in the foot with the VS though. They will never again be able to develop and sell another control surface for Sonar because of the terrible reputation they are getting from the lack of support on the current surfaces. Many people who expected to be using the VS for years are all considering alternate options which in many cases is also taking them away from Sonar. I know I'm in that crowd, looking at alternatives considering CW's silence and the reply I got back from Roland on the issue. I'm getting ready to throw in the towel and move on after being with CW for many years.

Yeah it kinda bites don't it... all these years and all.

Their silence really sums it up though and there is a lot more probably going on behind the scenes in reality.

Damn shame really.... and to think some of the other platforms have gotten such a bagging over the years and now look at our sorry state.

Oh well... at least the faders and transport work great!

I probably do a little research on other DAW's and hardware options once or twice a week as I feel it may really be time to move on.

I also encourage everyone to give feedback in this thread. We did something similarly for SONAR X1d and were able to implement some of your great ideas. I can't make any promises, but if there is any way to get our Product Managers' attention it would be in this thread, since I'll be following it.

Thanks everyone,

Hmmm... I want to be able to use my V700 system with any DAW.  That would be a serious gamechanger in DAW land.  If the Nucleus can do it, the V700 should be able to as well. Imagine... Your V700 system running Cake, Cuebase, and PT sessions and floating between them.

64 bit operation of the Fantom VS needs some attention. Having recently upgraded the DAW and OS to 64 bit Win 7 and Sonar, I'm seeing some shortfalls and problems. I'm preparing another support request.

Hi I am new to this forum, however been using Cakewalk and then Sonar for years.
I have been reading through this thread with great interest as i was about to part with £3,400.00 for a nice shiny new VS700 system. It looks like i will be wasting my money. This was going to be my final upgrade as i am moving my studio from the UK to France where i will be semi retiring.
 Best think again!
Mackie control is way cheper but is the intrgration better?
Do i retrograde back to 8.5, and try for a masive discount on the VS700.

Back to the drawing board!!!!!! :(
