Jeepers Crg.... are you serious? Wow...? I have no doubt you do not have X2 and a 700C under the same roof where you live.

Regarding the issue of 'supported'....My impression of unsupported refers to the fact that when X1 was released the 700C no longer functioned accurately as it did with the software X1 was replacing (8.5.3). X1 was THE upgrade path offered. Better described as a quantum shift possibly?

These functionality concerns while noted by Cake & Co. were not entirely resolved and in fact still are not (to my knowledge) so therefore the 700C is not supported under X1... as I personally see it. To my way of thinking based on experience in a service related industry, this is evidence of 'non'-support. The issues still exist and....how long has it been? It would not be wise to think any surface issues for specific to X1 are going to get attention IMO.

Put it this way....if you were running a commercial facility relying entirely on X1 and you had an issue with controller support, how hopeful would you honestly be of resolution right now?

No biggy as X1 is yesterday's newspaper as we are up to X2.

Cheers.

I never said I had X2. What's your list of problems with X2 and the V700C?
Did X1d resolve issues with the V700C?
If I was running a commercial facility I would keep using what works.
I have yet to see a list.

Ryan Munnis [Cakewalk]
The VS-700 works with SONAR X1. There were some initial compatibility issues but by no means did they make the software and hardware incompatible with one another. A new feature not being implemented is frustrating, but it doesn't make all of the other features non-usable. I even addressed a lot of the actual specifics as to what was broken to some of you folks in this same thread previously here: http://forum.cakewalk.com/fb.ashx?m=2456625

After this point, we released SONAR X1d which resolved a lot of functionality. Read the list of updates: http://www.cakewalk.com/S...reader.aspx/2007013277

One of the suggested things that some of you guys are saying we broke in X1d is the slow screen refresh. While I have spoken at length with many of you about how it could be improved, it hardly makes the software and hardware incompatible. This is really a stretch. I've also addressed several times the exact reason for the slight delay and why this is the case since X1d and the introduction of ProChannel modularity.

There are a few issues with SONAR X2 that we are looking at (as I've mentioned with my first post). I think the issues with ProChannel modularity on the surface are frustrating. I think we should keep this topic on track, which is about the VS-700 compatibility with SONAR X2.

A vast majority of the posts I'm reading and PMs I've received have a lot to say about Cakewalk and Roland (such as asking the names of product managers, suggesting firing people, etc.) and very little to say about what is working and what isn't working with the unit and SONAR. You guys are welcome to express frustrations, opinions etc... but I think for the purpose of this thread it makes sense to keep the topic on track since ultimately that will be the most helpful for Cakewalk, and also for other users.

Side note, Zo, unfortunately I don't have a stand-alone installer for the VS-700 control surface plug-in X1c. If you use this component, it will re-introduce several bugs that I've addressed in some of my linked posts above. It will not be fully functional with SONAR X2. You can manually swap this component out with the one from the SONAR X1b installer but that would be the way to get that component.

There's a summary of the main currently known issues in the first post of this thread.

But this kind of stuff makes me cringe. The sheer rudeness and willingness to make technical problems personal is jaw-dropping at times on these forums.

+1 John.... personal never helps. Sometimes it can be light hearted which is what I 'hope' has been suggested to Ryan. For the record.... not me.

The screen refresh issue doesn't really bother me here, I've seen it but it is more a disappointing annoyance at the time... not a show stopper here right now. The big one (as mentioned over and over Crg ) is the lack of integration surrounding the channel strip control. Under 8.5.3 this area was functional and made the workflow excellent. This is not the case any longer and obviously pro channel has a large bearing here.

I think all the venting and frustration is that we have been waiting quite a while for resolution and in the meantime Cake have released X2 which once again leaves us wanting and waiting. The more pro users have all but disappeared from what I can tell? Were there any? If there is an update, we need a date like I'm sure Cake would have dates for all delivery. We will get (further?) tired of all this and move along albeit reluctantly because I for one will be devastated to see the 700 get left behind and be forced to another product. We all struggle to believe this may happen but obviously it happens regularly with hardware.

@Crg: 'If I was running a commercial facility I would keep using what works. ' This then means you would have left for another option already IMO. I've got a project here that is literally about to go to Pro Tools for this very reason. I can't deliver it in time because my workflow has changed that much and it's now a lot more about the mouse which I have found difficult to go back to along with all the changed under X2... yes I need to get over it if I want to keep the 700C but it is now my personal preference to stay with it a bit longer. Obviously for me that is not sustainable and if you are willing to ride this issue out, then more power to you and I sincerely hope that all goes well.

Cheers and thanks Ryan for popping in again.. I actually thought you guy(s) didn't read this stuff too much to be honest. It must be difficult at times to read what goes on here.

Can you show me where you listed those problems Mully? I don't see them.

Craig, with respect, you're being a bit of a pedant. The key problems are summarised by Ryan at the start of the thread, and have been discussed at length in various threads.
