I have recently bought music creator 6. As far as I can see it differs from/resembles the touch version in the following ways:

They are both 32 bit versions
MC6 can run on XP or Win7 and above (32bit and 64bit)
MC6 touch runs on Win7 and above (32bit and 64bit) but not XP
MC6 touch offers touch screen support
They have different bundled guitar amp packages
They differ in appearance somewhat

Otherwise, in terms of capability they are much the same?
Is that about right or am I missing out any important stuff?

Regards

If you already have MC6, getting 6T is not the best deal..... you're not picking up very much for the cost. A better option would be to cross grade to X3 if you're itching for the upgrade.

I think the main thing you gain is the touch control ability..... assuming you have a touch screen device.

On the other hand, moving to X3 (upgrade cost is $49) gets you a bunch of new stuff. More FX, unlimited tracks and active effects...... and more.... check the specs page for details.

And of course, you could always keep working with MC6.  I worked with MC4 about 3 to 4 years before I did any sort of upgrade.  There's nothing wrong with MC6..... it's a great DAW platform and will do a good job.

Hey ynys,

I think that basically the abilities are the same like Guitarhacker stated moving up to MC6 Touch will get you a few different things but the functionality is probably pretty much the same, one thing you DO get with the older non touch version is the Song Construction Kits. Cakewalk says that they are hoping to have these available soon for the touch version.

I was thinking that these would be great for my 12 yr old daughter to help her get started with some basic song structures. Have you checked these out?

Looking at the videos out there it looks like with MC6 you do NOT get the Studio Instruments other than the drums, with MC6 Touch you also get the SI Bass Guitar, SI Electric Piano, SI String Section.

Going to Sonar X3 (the starting level) would set you back $49.99, while going to MC6 Touch would just be $9.99.

Check out the Cakewalk channel on Youtube for some comparisons:
