I'm almost sure it was Alex. I don't care much for using splat as a name.

Yep it was that person of many identities.

It's kind of stuck. Doesn't really stir my emotions one way or another.

Not a dumb question at all.  When I got started last year, it took me a month or two to figure out what "Splat" was.  I just never had the courage to ask...

A chemist would have dubbed it SPt   (Pt = Platinum for those of you without a periodic table of elements.)

Probably coming too close to an Avid product to run with that...

But wouldn't a chemist call SPt Sulfur Platinum?

Was it Craig?

I had it in my head (not the most accurate of places ) that the phrase was coined by CakeAlex (remember him?)

I think you've got him mixed up with Splat there ? Or maybe it was Splat2 or Dr Avalanche or Matron Landslide or..............

Oh wait..

Terrible name either way.

I can assure you, that regardless of what people think/thought of Alex, he was not The Matron, of that I am 100% certain

So you say, but somebody who is pretending to be someone else is bound to say that though.

Yes, it was me, I did it in a post as a joke...I never expected it to stick. I'm not sure if Cakewalk has forgiven me or not...

Once, when being handed our brand new baby to hold, at a very young age when I knew not of things, the focus was taken off the delivery, onto the new mother, who was no longer screaming and calling me every name under the sun, and the proud dad, and the new little nipper wrapped in a blanket, when, forgotten, the placenta birthed itself, onto the immaculately clean, full gloss tiled, hospital floor. Yep, you guessed it. SPLAT!!

I kinda like it, in a very weird way......

That made me laugh. Should have said "SONAR Pt" to avoid allusions to inappropriate alchemy.
