  • Hi. I have a serious problem! Working with thousands of audio files on a huge project.

Peejay
Using Sonar 3X.  When recording single to 5 words per tack the waveform changes to a shaded form saying: Re.4 Busy.
Then it hangs.  I have 2 hard discs: C:\ with the programme files.  E:\ where prepared files (each with 50 tracks) are stored.
It seems that the finding and storage of audio files is the problem.  Both are SSD Hard discs and the hardware is fine.
Also, when loading recorded files, the same happens: the recovering of the tracks takes place, but very slowly  -   seems to be looking for the audio files. Hope you follow my explanation of the problem.

Sir Les
Hey there Peejay.

I believe that updating to the newest version of Sonar Plat, has worked out load times, and the busy write of the wave forms to track issues.....Not sure about all you say , but I have witnessed some of that sort issue , and more so more of other things, in past renderings of Sonar X3...

it could be a memory thing...but, I would try to update....to Plant latest rendition...seems to be working for some, better than previous versions...so it seems with some very good updated bug fixes.

If it does not work out...get back the money asap....if so is paid to do.

I believe all are allowed a test grace period of time ,to see into usage on the system it is claiming it works on as specified.

If that does not work out...You should be able to revert back or roll back to what works...if be so X3.x.xx...and claim a refund....of try a 20 monthly plan...just to try it out...before you go full in..or full out...

Although I am not impressed with the cash cow system of pay and update buggy codex...""That is the way it is, until it is not that way anymore""...life time updates should scare people?

To any other poster who may knows of a updated free and full working demo...try that first if so exists as a offering up to get you hooked in......wink?.

Cheers.

Can you post your system specs (like I have in my signature)?

I'm not sure I fully understand the situation, but based on what I assume I understand the first thing I would try is Save As the project under a new name, usin Per Project Audio-folder and "Copy all audio" checked. And make sure it gets saved to the SSD you actually intend to save it on (I'm not sure if "prepared files" mentioned in the OP actually mean Project files or Per Project Audio folders). That way you at least can be 100% sure SONAR (and you) knows the routet to the audio.

You'll definitely want to make sure and increase the pic cache size.
That can be done in the aud.ini variable
PicCacheMB.  In spite of the doc saying the default is 20MB, the actual default is 500 MB.  So feel free to raise it to 1024, 2048, etc.

You can set this value via SONAR.

PicCacheMB=<size in MB>
Integer
20
This variable specifies the maximum size of the picture cache. The picture cache is located in the directory specified by the PictureDir=<path> variable (defaults to <Cakewalk Folder>\Picture Cache).

Does SONAR now support PicCacheMB above 2000? Attempts to enter a value larger than 2000 in Preferences throws this error
