The Console 1 really augments the Mackie - not replaces it. I use the Mackie to run the transport, to solo/mute tracks as I mix, to control the faders, and to do things like drop a marker or move to markers. You could do some of this with C1 for sure, but I love having 16 tracks always visible with the Mackie.

Personally, I don't intend to give up the Mackie/XT but I suppose you never know...

I use my Tascam FW 1884 the same way. As another part of the whole "mixer experience".
The FW 1884, I see as the fader part of the mixer, and the Console 1 as the Eq and comp section.

Just picked up the Console 1 myself... love the look and feel, now the real test of mixing.  I was concerned about the lack of party support for 3rd plug ins and the absent faders, but as others have already chimed in, its not really meant to function as a "mixer" per say.  Need to learn the best workflow now, and pressure's on me to come up with something sonically on target ... lol

Wish my computer system and budget would allow me the luxury of getting a UAD card or interface, as the plug in possibilities are endless, but for now, I will stick with the included SSL channel strip and see what I can create...

Many of the Softube plugins are Console 1 compatible
I got (amongst others) the Drawmer S73 when purchasing a Focusrite Solo for my laptop. So now I have 2 choices when mixing on my laptop  They make good plugins  https://www.softube.com/buy.php
You can demo all their products for 2 weeks, I believe..
All the best.
