Any tips/ideas on how to process a vocal such that it sounds like it's coming out of a megaphone?
 
I had one idea:
 
1. Use a megaphone
 
...but then ran out of ideas.  I've got very limited (read: no) experience of working with vocals.
 
As a guide to the sound I'm looking for, I was going to post a link to a youtube video, but it is pretty rude so felt that putting the link here would be inappropriate (search for 'Cartman megaphone' on youtube if you like).

Back to Operation Dustbusting...

I'd start by cutting the highs and lows and then probably add a few high Q resonances in there,

It is pretty easy.  Couple options:
1.  Several EQs already have a preset for it, and I think the Sonitus is one of them.
2.  Stick an EQ on track.  Stick high pass and low pass filters on it (pretty aggressive) then stick a peak in the midrange and move it around until you get a frequency you like.
3.  Lastly, if you want, you can add a little saturation or distortion to dirty it up a bit.

I've achieved this two ways: 1. use the Sonitus "Telephone" preset along with a distortion plugin, or 2. use an amp sim.
 
Adding a short delay also helps, if you want to simulate someone addressing a crowd through a megaphone (like in Pink Floyd's "Waiting for the Worms").

Also, interesting; I think I'd have reached for some lo-fi bit-crushing type of effect first.  That, or a megaphone ;-)
