Good day, I just purchased the arc 2 room correction system to calibrate my studio. When I went to do the calibration the provided condenser microphone would hum as soon as I turned the phantom power on. I have other condenser mics that work fine with no hum but if I'm correct I need to use the provided one from the ARC 2 (ik multimedia). If I hold the mic near the top the hum gets really loud and if I hold it low it lessens but is still there. Would spending $70 on a 4pin xlr cable resolve this issue or could it be something else. I tested the electricity and everything passed. Im using a presonus 192 and as sated earlier my Shure ksm44 condenser Mic works fine with no hum. Thoughts? Thank you

I had never noticed this before - mine does the same hand held.  In a mic stand it's fine.

Does it hum when in a mic stand?

It does worse in a stand because at first I tried holding the mic to see how the system worked and was able to get 1 reading. When I put it in the stand is when i discovered the hum. wonder if there's ground issue with the mic itself.

my mic is absolutely quiet.

either a bad mic,
bad cable,
or ground loop.

could be a bad mic.

these  mics are really cheap mics. lookalikes from the B brand go for 40 - 55 € (new) but I don't know whether a non-IK mic would fit their calibration software (probably not as they are using such cheap mics that the may well use the software to compensate for some mic kinks) ...

I had a bad IK ARC mic a few years ago, shortly after I bought it. IK replaced it but it took a long time as I had to send it to Italy (which is right next door from where I live, but still ...)

So based on my results of testing power, different cables and trying another condenser Mic they determined the Mic is bad. Moving on. Thanks for the feedback :)
