Lynn
Here is my latest opus, recorded with my old friend, Roger Fife, on bass.  I eagerly look forward to hearing from all of you with your helpful comments on this production.  Here is the link:https://www.soundclick.co...ngid=13676989&q=hi

I don't know how much longer this forum will be here, but I sure have enjoyed it over the years and have learned much from being here.  I hope all of us has a productive 2018!

EDIT (1/31/18): Taking your suggestions, I remixed this today and lessened the compression to give the mix more breathing room and make it less fatiguing.  Thanks for all who participated.

Here are my tongue in cheek lyrics:

Some people know how to drive you insane
They say it’s sunny when it’s starting to rain
The sky is falling, and they tell you it’s good
You’re talking clearly, but you’re misunderstood
You don’t know the time
You don’t know the place
Your sins may be forgotten
But, you never forget a face
CHORUS                                                           You can be too rich for heaven
But you’re never too poor for hell
You can be too rich for heaven
But, you’re never too poor for hell

You may be thinking that you know how to smile
Maybe you think you went the extra mile
Look in the mirror, and tell me I’m wrong
We always end up just where we belong

CHORUS

I believe there’s a place in the future
I believe there’s a place in the past
I believe there’s a place in the present
I believe that it’s over too fast

Just take a place in the back of the line
And, when it’s over I know you’ll be fine
And, if your worries should happen to pass
I hope you’ll be at the head of the class

CHORUS  (2x’s)

Love this topic.  Great song, dig the retro organ sound at the beginning.  All the instruments sound great.

Great stuff Lynn - love all the quirky synths and your mate did a great job on the bass.

I like the song Lynn, and the overall recording is well done. The only nit I have is that that slap echo on the vocal is adding some pumping that is pushing the instruments in spots, particularly during the louder vocal passages. Not sure what your FX chain is, but my guess is the limiter is pumping from the echo...

I like it. The vocal track is very good as always - you have a great voice. I'm particularly
impressed with the professional production that went into the song.

I like it Lynn! Clever lyrics and excellent singing and playing. I'd like to hear more definition in the drums personally, with a bit less compression and reverb. Also, the synth/organ bell pads are a bit heavily compressed for me, making the overall mix seem a bit "splashy". I like the instrumentation, and the left side guitar picking work.

Good one!

Well seeing as when I was but a ankle snapping Wookiee I overheard someone saying "Those <our surname>'s will never be true <insert followers of a certain religious figure who reportedly came from the middle east and was born some 2018+ years ago.> because they are working class".  (little did they know I would help save a galaxy one day )

I figure I have always been destined to go to the opposite of the place discussed above.

Sounds well here Lynn.

Sorry for the late reply, but I want to thank all of you for your responses.  I've heard a couple of times that the delay on my vocal was questionable, so I will take that into consideration.  Also, I've been told that my limiter and compressor may be overdone, so that will be accounted for.  These are exactly the things I was hoping to hear, and I will be busy reworking this mix.  I think it's close, but no cigar, yet.  I want this song to breathe so I can take it off the respirator.

Lynn,

Very cool song, super catchy.   You have some good mix suggestions already so will just say I really like the song.   Reminds me vaguely of the Talking Heads but a very unique song.  Very clever...

Regards
