Is there a way to not have my clip(s) underneath "grayed out"?  Whenever I record on top of a partially existing track when I edit it, it's grayed out and the clip underneath becomes inaudible.  I do not want this.  I have "sound on sound" enabled but that didn't seem to help any.

I want all sound in each I\O to always play what's there, regardless of what's on top or bottom.

I record my guitar tracks in 2 I\O's (hard left and hard right) and slide (edit) the dead space for each take as I move along to make sure they will be able to blend nicely.  I can't do this when two overlapping clips (in the same I\O become grayed out and can't hear the "grayed out" clip underneath.

Thanks.

Sound's like you should be using Take Lanes?
I've never used Sound on Sound as to me that seems a throwback to 4 track days,,  but Comping mode seems to be a good way to mix and match multiple takes. Have you tried that?

Didn't you use to be able to see the clip underneath two overlapping clips?  What happened to that?  I could see exactly where to drag to make my crossfades perfect and seamless and now it seems like you can only 100% see the top clip and nothing of the one being overlapped.
