Hi guys I'm attempting to move my whole song backwards to the start of the mix (1.00.00) when I attempt to do this it comes up with a blue line on the 1.00.00 mark and doesn't allow me to move the clips any more than the 4.00.00 point. this is proving very frustrating. have tried the "cut special" theory but didn't work and have tried the "select all" and moving clips and that still didn't work...
Any help would be much appreciated

Have you turned off snap?

Only a guess, but I would imagine you have data between 1.00.00 and 4.00.00 that is either hidden or is so small you can't see it. I think if you were to select all and try to shift the data over any data in that range would be preventing it. If you select the first three bars using the timeline, you could delete any data there. Maybe check take lanes as well.

I believe RSM is on to something. If there is data/hidden data before this section, you cant move it backwards because there is no where for the previous data to go.
Also as john said, check to make sure snap is not preventing you from dragging it where you want it to go.

Try holding down the right mouse button and dragging/Lasso the selection of data/tracks, exc.
Once all is selected, click and hold your left mouse button and drag it to where you want it.

Yes, make sure there's no audio in the area you want to move over.
Lasso everything, cut it, navigate to the beginning and paste it.

Use Ripple Editing, I've had really good luck with it.

Oh, and check the recording mode and the drag and drop options, if you haven't already. Choose the one that says it will replace what's there.

Make sure your cursor when you select all is at the start of the data that you want to move-not a measure before.
Count the exact measures that you want to move it to make it go to measure 1 in the timeline.
  Move function.

Do the same as above, but start a new Sonar file and when you paste it in, have the cursor at the beginning of the timeline instead of where it is for your present song. Sometimes things just get screwed up, and though it is always nice to know the reason so that it can be avoided in the future, sometimes it's better to just abandon the idea of knowing "why" and get on with your work.

Send it to me via Google Drive or the place of your choice and I'll take a look at it.
