Did you have drivers for 8.5 previously? With the V700? Your drivers got blitzed somehow. The X1 download should have V700 drivers in it. Do a custom install and find them in the sub section. There's a complicated update procedure for X1 and X1 Expanded for both devices. Do you have Expanded? You'll need to properly identify which new drivers you're putting in. Also check the windows sound system to make sure the V700R is your default audio device. If it isn't, make it so if it's listed, and turn it on before you boot the PC every time. There's a few things you're going to have to verify and check so your best bet is go through it with support.

Everything worked fine for about 1 year.  I moved my studio and didn't set everything up for about 6 months (the things I do for women...).  Now that I'm re-setting everything up, the drivers disappeared and I can't get them back.....uhgggggg.  If I was sure that all of my work wouldn't disappear, I'd uninstall every version of the whole damn thing and reload everything from scratch...except, the original disks for S8 don't work with 7 and I can't seem to figure out how to make them work.....otherwise, I'd download the drivers from the disks I have.........and now, I can't seem to figure out how to "custom install" X1 to find the drivers.....they don't give me the prompt......it just starts downloading......

And, of course, the support group for the 700 is only open from 9-1 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays....pacific time....when I called on Friday, no one was there even during those hours.....and, of course, they were all gone on Monday....so, I've been f'ing with this for 5 days now.  I started a ticket and they are supposed to call me tomorrow.....sure wouldn't mind calling you on the phone for help....I'm sure this is all operator error....?????

Uninstalling X1 won't help. It isn't necessary. You took apart the system, lost the USB hookup. You have to uninstall everything, clean your registry, re-install everything. That's the best way to go. You could search out all the old drivers and delete them. That is a real technical ****. Once you moved the USB connection to the V700R and C, you lost the link that allows Sonar to run your PC as an administrator. So,... when you entered X1, obviously after your move, you created several driver conflicts between versions and between USB ports on your  PC. Since you don't have the proper drivers for X1, the old drivers tried to associate with X1 on the wrong USB port. The information and instruction mis-match between the software, win 7 and sonar 8.5 and sonar X1 have left you with a mess that's really hard to clean up if you don't know what you're looking for in the registry. It's really over my head to explain in detail, but in short, all the versions of Sonar on your PC and OS are calling for the drivers on the wrong USB port or are calling for the wrong drivers on the wrong USB port. If that makes any sense.
