  • Tascam US20x20: two entries in the device manager?

Hello!

I noticed recently that there are TWO "device manager items" for the US-20x20
- Speakers (US-20x20 Mixer)
- Speakers (US-20x20) .... so, no "mixer"

Not sure what to do regarding this.... some kind of a multi out audio endpoint VS a "stereo" endpoint or what ?

Can anybody provide some light on this topic? Tascam's site and manual does not seem to detail this topic.

Thanks.

As I'm sure you know, the US20x20 has three user-selected modes on the front panel. The "mixer" mode might have some differences at the driver level which is why it might show up as a separate entity.

The documentation could be better. I've only used it in audio interface mode so far.

Indeed I am aware of these operation modes, but I just thought I would have to actually select one in order for the devices available in windows to update.

In SONAR, i can see both the "audio interface" and the "mixer" ins and outs... they look quite similar, but the "mixer" cannot be enabled in sonar (so far... during my very quick little "tests").

I think you have to choose from the front panel.  Try that and see if something changes.

The "mixer" driver is separate from the ASIO driver. It's Tascam's attempt at making the US-NxN interfaces multi-client. The non-mixer entry is the ASIO driver. The mixer entry looks more like a system audio driver when you check/set the audio specs for it.
