Does anyone have some step by step intructions on setting up Multiple instruments using a single instance of Play in Sonar X3.
I just cant seem to get it right
In this piece I have (EW Silver Strings) 2 x violins,2 x Basses,2 x Spicc Violins,2 x Cellos/Violas.
When I insert Play into Sonar Im not sure which options i should choose in the Insert Soft Synth Options box.
I know i should be asssigning each instrument its own midi channel and should have the corresponding midi channel in the midi track, but i just cant get it to work.
Can someone help a moron like me.

One thing you can do is go to www.bandlab.com and create an account using the same email address and password you use for your Cakewalk account. Then download and install the BandLab assistant. This will let you install Cakewalk by BandLab, which is an updated and improved version of SONAR. It will install alongside SONAR X3 and you can enjoy all the features of X3 plus the stability, speed and new features of CbB. It is free for you to use.

Others can help with your original inquiry.

You have to insert the synth checking "All outputs stereo" route the audio in Play's mixer to the appropriate output track.

You need to create the midi tracks manually and route them to the appropriate channel in Play.

Once you have it setup you may want to consider saving a track template.

Sorry this is a bit sketchy, posting on my phone from an airport.

Each Play inst. must be set to the proper channel on the Play Synth. Also, the synth and channel must be set in Cakewlak. Easiset way is to expand track view so you can see the place to do this. You choose the synth as an output I believe, and the next one over is to choose the channel. Sorry I can't show you a diagram but mt skills are limited in that repect.

Also, Always check the manual! It will prbably solve your problem.

Akso, check the East West website. They may have tutorials specifically for Sonar. Even if years old they would still work.
