I know this is not the software/plugin forum but I wanted to post here to reach the largest audience to alert folks to what I think is a best bang-for-the-buck product I've purchased in a long, long time...VocAlign!

I bought to try to better align two acoustic guitar rhythm tracks that were not bad as is but could do with better alignment to get rid of some of the "smear."  After applying VocAlign the tracks are SO much more in sync.  Now the accents are hitting at the same time which really adds punch, clarity and articulation to the part.  It's like night and day...I'm in heaven.

Wow! I love this thing.  Best $119 I spent in a long time.

Kudos to Cake for bring this to the SONAR community!

Thanks for the review.  I think I will invest in this plug.

This is good to know. Thanks for the review. I've ignored it so far as it's £95 which I don't really have put aside right now. How useful is it in the big picture? So, it's not just good for vocals then? How much more useful is it than VocalSync?

I found that VocalSync introduces a lot of sonic artifacts.. Personally I try to avoid using it at all

like any software alignment program, you need to pick the correct algorithm.

I've only used it for this one application, so far. Based on the results I'm sure I'll be using it a lot more. I can think of 1/2 dozen other songs that will benefit from a little tightening up. Worked great on my acoustic guitar tracks. I can't speak to VocalSync because I never used it...no way for me to compare.

I never used VocalSync so I can't comment on it. The acoustic guitar tracks I processed with VocalAlign, however, have no artifacts whatsoever that I can hear. You definitely have to render the tracks after applying VocalAlign or you will most definitely hear artifacts.

Hehehe...I think you'll be surprised at how easy and how well this plugin in works.

I did discover this morning that there are more advanced version of this software.  There is a comparison chart on their website comparing the different offerings.  I have the most inexpensive version and it's perfect for my needs.

I have VocALign Pro. It can handle longer files (up to 300 seconds), lets you place sync points for forcing sync, has the option to protect particular sections from being aligned, and other "pro" features. For example if you're doing dialog replacement for films done in a different language, the Pro version makes that process easier. It also has a mode that duplicates the standard version.

You can download trial versions of either one but IMHO, for at least 95% of SONAR users VocALign Project will do whatever they need, without having to spend the extra for the more advanced version.
