Hey Beautiful People...
The Take Lane feature is awesome, but I'm still having challenges utilizing it.

Simply put, once I've got a bunch of takes, I have two big problems.
1. I don't know how to pick a particular take and use it in the track (clip?). Other than soloing the Take I want to use, and then closing the take lanes, I don't actually know what I'm doing. And the (clip?) appears greyed out, or sometimes disappears altogether. But strangely, i can make it audible with this method of soloing a particular take, then closing the take lanes button. This is my main problem.

2. How do you properly split up parts from different takes and make them into one?

Thanks everyone! I'd be belly up without all your help!

May not be much help cause I don't have the link available at the moment but search youtube (CakeTV?) for videos on comping, it explains it well. The "k" keystroke will be your friend for muting and unmuting takes to promote the one you want to the track lane. Hth.

"K" is one of my favorite key bindings

That, and "D"

This may not be the most elegant method, but in order to keep takes organized I create a new blank Take Lane and put it at the top of the Take Lanes for that track.  Next, I split the clips in each take lane at logical points.  As I go through and listen to the clips, I move the ones I deem the best to that top Take Lane.

Usually I'm doing this with a vocal track and working phrase by phrase.  So let's say I'm working on the lead vocal for Verse 1.  I'll select all of those clips in all of the Take Lanes, mute them, and then one by one unmute/listen/mute until I decide on the clip I want.  Each clip I move to the top Take Lane remains unmuted so that I can hear how the next clip I audition blends with what I've chosen up to that point.

When I'm finished, the audio wave form I see in the Track View is the collection of the unmuted clips that I moved to the top Take Lane.

Note:  I like to preserve the raw recorded audio in the original track(s), so before I start Comping, I Clone the raw track(s) and then Comp the clone.

I hope that helps you in some way.
