I first noticed this in Splat 2017.05 but I still have the problem in Splat 2017.06 - If I load Splat and click on a recent project from the start screen, the project will load, but once loaded it will crash Sonar. Loading a project from File menu is fine. Anyone else have this issue or know how to fix it?

Happened to me as well with 2017.5, but only with one project. The others loaded fine. Not sure what caused it as it was loading fine for weeks, then not. Loads fine from the file menu.

I use the start screen all the time to load projects and I've not seen the issue in 2017.05 or 2017.06.  
 
Is it all projects or just a particular one? 
 
Does it happen if you load the project from the file menu and then close it and reopen form the start screen?

No, it's not a particular project. It affects all projects. If I remember rightly, it happens when Sonar has just been launched and you click on the project on start screen. It may not happen when you have a project open and launch the start screen to open another, but I can't remember so not sure. The only time I tend to use the start screen is just after launching Sonar anyway.
