  • Saving Project audio to custom location seems to be broken in 2017-06 (p.2)

Sir Les
I think in perf of Sonar..you set the default folders to...where you wish....and even the auto save place can be saved to where you wish.

Now, I believe I used this for each project, and made a folder on drive other than os boot dirve...each project got a new folder named and set to open for that project, and audio....As you are claiming...I have done in past..

Then when save as, i seek out that name and drive and put the project saved in that , and audio should be saved or written when recording to the audio folder of that project name made.

I have lost some tracks here and there doing it, so, I try to save the hole project and files periodically in one bundle file., right after the cwa file...just to be sure all is somewhere...once I found missing bass tracks of just saving cwa...and that missing file not found box showing up...and no bass in the audio folder.

Once I found missing tracks....I started to wonder why...and sometimes things not saved in folders told to save to, ending up on the drive, but not in the folders...of downloads, and or drives putting to the task....oddly, some installers do this also...MSI file?...why is it on most of my drives?...some bent installer did not put it in the right place, some say...

So, I hope nothing is still a bug...but if so is one...it could be related to the OS and drives....not sure though...and it may also be, some bad chipset issue?...check it out...or bios update needed, or sata driver...ect.

and then again it could be OS...again things go buggy...as we all know to well, with that one running the show.......lol.

But when you find the problem and solve it....put solved in the header...so if I come back to MS and Sonar...I can read what you found and then I know...to tell others!

And so we sail onwards....Did you see the movie with Russel Crowe?..Pirate ship mates at the table of two weebles?....Bugs.

Cheers

Thanks for chiming in Chuck - I do have that checked. That's the issue. It seems to be impossible on my system to define separate locations for the project and audio folder. No matter what paths I enter it seems to be overridden and Sonar creates a new folder containing the project and audio folder. Ken has successfully done it with the new update so it must be something on my system. Not a huge issue as I have a workaround. Just a bit weird.

Sir Les
What about windows defender and such...I know you said no virus protection being used...but just check...windows has funny ideas of what it wants set...you may have turned it off..but someone turned it back on, not you?

No windows defender Sir Les. Studio PC is offline so settings rarely change.

The way you describe it saving is the new default as of 2017/06 release. See the 2017/06 Music+Tech magazine.

You may have to look around your process to see how it needs modifying. Your method does indeed seem very unusual. you must have to rename each of your project audio folders so they can coexist in the same folder.

I suspect it is certainly to do with the new default Mike. I have used this method since Sonar first got per project audio. I am not sure what you mean by renaming folders -  the audio folders are each given the name of the relevant project upon creation/export.

I must be missing something about your process. When I creat a project using per project audio (the now default) I get a folder with the project name which contains the project.cwp file and a folder "Audio" which contains all the audio files for just that project.

I define a project specific audio folder name in the export dialogue Mike.
