Sonar Platinum -
How do I see a soft synth's automation on the time line?
If I write an adjustment to the overhead volume of a ride cymbal in Addictive Drums 2 where can I see it on the timeline?  Thanks.

Open an automation lane for the Ride cymbal. or change the tracks filter to automation for that Ride cymbal track.
Keep in mind, in order to automate different kit pieces within a track, you must have the VST I's track set to multi audio output and not an SIT (Simple instrument track) You do this in Soft synth insert options/preference when inserting the synth of choice.

Hope it helps.
All the best.

Ken,
I use Automation lanes all of the time.  I just don't see a lane for AD 2 yet I can automate the drum control panel.

Chuck,
All of my drum tracks a separated out on the DAW.  The ride amount is part of the overheads.  There is no lane for it on any of the overheads automation lanes.

John,
Automation can be assigned to specific tracks - see if this helps:

SOLVED!
Steve was in the right direction.  I'm going to roll it out in this simple approach.

1.  Here is the control I want to automate:

2.  Open Synth Rack,  create a corresponding control knob, assign where you want the automation to appear on the timeline.

I hope this makes sense. If you don't assign the automation it will still work but you'll have nowhere to see it and fine tune it.
Thanks.

Cool!  I'm glad I could at least get you somewhere in the ballpark.

And an automation lane on the OH track would not have done this ?

Chuck,
No. That was the problem. I went through all of the individual tracks, OH and alike, looking for the automation lane. As soon as I assigned it, bang, there it was. However, like I said, assigning a lane is not necessary for automation on any control of AD 2. I personally like modifying the nodes on the lane. I like that type of automation control.
