  • Sonar Platinum: Issues with Kontakt 5 - Modern Drummer Audio Routing of Hi Hats

Greetings,

So I was working with Kontakt 5 (KOMPLETE 11 ULTIMATE) and using Modern Drummer (64 Channel VST instance).

I was in the process of creating individual outputs to my DAW (Sonar Platinum) for each Drum/Cymbal piece, and while I understand that Cymbals are sent through the audio outs for Overhead and Room Mic's, Hi Hats have a dedicated mic and so can be routed to a separate audio channel.

However, I discovered that --in studio drummer-- I can route the hi hats to a separate track, but only with Garage Kits. Session Kits and Stadium Kits will not let me route Hi Hats to a separate track. I can also route the Hi Hats in Modern Drummer (all kits), but same routing issue in Vintage Drummer.

I have not tested them all, but I dont get why some route and some dont. Seems to be just the Hi Hats. So either this is "on purpose" (on a kit-by-kit basis) or it's a bug in either Kontakt, Sonar or some combination thereof.

I need someone with these tools to test and see if they can duplicate the results.

Thanks,
Preston

It's probably down to the technique they used to mic the drums - you don't always mic the hats separately. Unless I'm doing something special which requires it, I never mic the hats, but let the overheads do the work.
