Hey guys just like the subject says I can't find out how to program my keyboards control knobs.  I have music creator 6 touch and z3ta+2.  I'm using an Akai MPK Mini MIDI controller.

Ok so I think I know what I need to do for the control knobs.  But now I have a question about assigning sounds to pads. Atm my pads work essentially like the keys on the keyboard.  They just play up and down the scale for the range that they cover. But I want to know how to, for expample, set Pad 1 to a snare, and Pad 3 to a kick. How do I do that? Someone please help, there's got to be one of you that knows how to do this.  I've been googling for hours and Ive got nothin.

The pads just send MIDI data, they do not send specific information about the sound they should make. What sounds the pads (or keys) trigger is determined by the synth playing the notes. For example, SI-Drums uses MIDI notes 22, 26, 35 through 59 to play the instruments. There is a table in the SI-Drum help that shows the map in detail. It generally follows the GM Standard Drum Map
 
You can configure the hardware to send the notes you need or use Drum Maps using the Drum Map Manager in MC6 to map incoming note data to the synth.

Right. What I'm saying is I want to assign a pad to play a specific sound. In other words I want to assign it to a specific note as you described

Either configure your hardware to send the appropriate note data or use a Drum Map in the DAW to map the incoming data to the notes the synth expects to see.
 
 

Ok thanks. I'll try and see if I can make sense of that.  I just started using MC6 a couple of days ago and just got my MIDI controller today.  It would be much simpler if they had a matrix of all the sounds in a particular software drum set and allowed you to map the sounds to your drum pads.

I dont think that's quite the answer to my issues. I do recognize that a big part of it is my inexperience. But I'm just simply trying to set each of my 8 drum pad buttons to a different sound in a drum set.  I've been trying to use the drums in Cakewalk sound center. Theres a lot of nice sounding drums there.  I could play the drums on the keyboard part of my controller but I want to be able to set some of the sounds to my pads so that I can just tap em as they are bigger and easier to hit.  I just don't understand why it's so difficult to, for example, set Pad 1 to kick, Pad 2 to snare, Pad 3 to crash.  I can't figure out how to make this happen.  I understand that each of those sounds corresponds to a key on the digital keyboard in sound center.  But I can't figure out how to map the specific keys I want, to my pads.  I hope I'm making this clear enough because I'm not sure how else to say it. I just want to be able to put together full drum beats by tapping on my pads instead of the keyboard.

I understand as I said above there are two ways; make the hardware send the proper notes using the MPK mini Editor software and/or use the Drum Map Manager in MC6 to create a drum map to translate the notes it is sending to the notes you want the synth to trigger.
