I was having an issue last night trying to get my BeatStep Pro (Slave) synced to SPlat (Master) last night.
 
In the past I used a bunch of MIDISPORT boxes which allowed me to connect to all of my MIDI synths without have to chain them together.
 
Since moving to Windows 10 none of my MIDISPORT boxes functioned as there are no built in drivers in W10 and the manufacturer has never bothered to create new drivers either.
 
I have therefore had to rely on chaining my MIDI devices together and for some reason the MIDI clock messages sent from the MIDI out port of my OCTA-CAPTURE were not reaching the BeatStep Pro.
 
When I connected the BeatStep Pro directly to the O-C it synced fine, albeit with a bit of lag, which is another problem I need to address at some point.
 
So, to the point...
 
I've been looking into getting a couple of Kenton MIDI Utility Boxes.
 
Has anyone here got any experience of the Thru 5 and Merge 4 units?
 
On paper, they appear to be exactly what I need and, thankfully, don't actually connect to my PC, so are not dependent on any operating system.
 
I guess all I want to know, really, is, are they fit for purpose?

What MIDISport box's are not working for you Andy?  My MIDISport USB 8x8 works fine under Win 10.
 
Back in the days of only having the one set of MIDI I/O on the breakout cable of my Sound-blaster card, yes I said Sound-blaster Card, I used a couple of boxes from Philip Rees.

A W5 which is a Two 2 to 5 thru box which allows switching of the two ins across any of the 5 outs. This mains powered.
 
A 2M Which is a MIDI Merge for two MIDI in's gives you MIDI in 1 Merged with MIDI 2 x 2 outs and MIDI 1 and 2 through again mains powered.

Also a V3 one in 3 out thru box, this 9V battery powered.  You pay the postage mate and you are welcome to them.

Regarding the MIDISPORT stuff... I guess it was pure stupid of me to throw them out. Should have hung onto them, just in case... Shoulda woulda coulda!

Good to hear you sorted but if you want you are more than welcome they are just gathering dust.  
 
I can not see me buying any more hardware synths (other than when I win the lottery(which I do not so) or Hans finally pays me, then I would buy a Roger from Moog and Euro rack from Doepfer).
 
I have some spare I/O on the 8x8 for when that does not happen.

So if you can use them say the word and you can have them, we can haggle about postage and I promise no limbs will be under threat.

But I de-dusted, dug out the spiders, removed their webs from them especially for you. 😂😂😂😎🥓🥓🥓☹🎶😃 

No problem I just put it all back, now where did that large black spider with red funnel pattern on it back go.
