Ok I enjoy the ezine, but the new features should have a video showing the update more informative for old and new users. It is a great marketing tool for everyone. For instance I have not seen a video on the new adaptive limiter features and what happen to the live videos that was done miss them. I don't understand why this is not being done.  There are a lot of things that sonar does and does great but you would never know it because there is no type of video showing its great features.  Touch should be pumped this was the first daw to do it.

Im all for new videos. its a great way to learn.
But, a lot of good videos are made by Sonar users. I've made a few myself.
If more members stepped it up and made videos, it would help a lot.

Yea, you are right about that one, but the shouldn't the company it self have the wellingness to do first for marketing purpose. I see more videos on x3 than platinum.

it appears the pipeline is clogged
A shame really, all I keep seeing is 1 minute videos with Text on the screen.

I'm all for user videos, but a good percentage of them that I've watched are....unwatchable.

1 - Preparation.  Videos should be well prepared, they should be concise and to the point.
So many videos I've seen are filled with lots of "Ummms" and "Uhhhs". And the instructors searching for the right button to push. "No, not that one.  Sorry I'll find it eventually"

2 - Get to the point already.  Again preparation.  I've seen videos spend five minutes on something that only needs a short explanation.  Even beginner tutorials spend a lot of unnecessary time on obvious things.

3 - Video unwatchable.  Many tutorials have video that is either not relevant to what's being said, or badly displayed making it very hard for the viewer to actually see what's being done.

4 - Demonstrations of the tutorials.  Tutorials should have step by step instructions on how to do something.  And yes examples are great, but when the examples take up more time than the actual instructions, they need to be edited.  20 minute videos can usually be made in half the time if the creator plans it out correctly.

5 - Speech and audio.  Many videos have someone that is not mic'd correctly or you just can't understand what they are saying.

Even some professional (company made) tutorial videos suffer from these issues.   Again a well planned storyboard goes a long way in video presentations.   I get so frustrated sometimes in watching these videos, it reminds me of some concert videos where the director is zoomed in on a drum stick tapping on a cymbal, while the lead guitarist is performing a killer solo.   You just want to scream at the screen, and say "C'mon, get the right shot!!!!"

Maybe my background in professional video production leaves me a little more critical and frustrated then most folks, but I've heard these complaints from a lot of other people as well.

I think this topic was covered recently by cakewalk staff. Basically, if I recall correctly, they just don't really have the staff. They will put out some stuff they just don't have like a video team or anything

The proper way to do it would be to have educational video links in the new Tech + Music eZine thing . . . however, it would be hard to keep up with the pace of new monthly features added, and Cakewalk would need to have an entire video production department to accomplish this, and producing these videos in advance of the monthly releases.
Don't' think that will happen.

There was a time when Brandon and Seth would do an online live seminar introducing and displaying new features, but the new monthly model seems to make that harder to do. They tried to do it last year with a few new guys, sorry, can't remember their names . . . but it just didn't stick for some reason.

I like the Cakewalk videos that are out there, but I'm also really liking the new Tech + Music production that comes every month . . . it's just more of a reading thing that a watching thing, but still packed with good information about what's new in Cakeland.
