LOL That guys is busy doing everything (I know you made a joke) but wow, I imagine that Ezine takes a lot of time to prepare.

It's odd that I have to watch the Pro tools Videos to find out how to do something in Sonar.  The capability is there, however, since there are no videos on the Cakewalk Channel about certain things to do in Sonar, I check the Pro Tools site and there it is, or the Recording Revolution Channel.

Bakers hire some prep cooks to make the video tutorials!!!

Brief summary in the ezine and do add video connected. Like do a video showing useful the master bus waveform preview. It really helps with levels, compression etc.. this is just an example of a informative video.

It amazes me how many people get the most basic stuff wrong when making video tutorials. For instance I recently hit YouTube to look for demonstrations of a tape emulation plugin. There were quite a few, but virtually every single one of them was ruined by the narrator yapping incessantly over the A/B's. And the comments were full of people complaining about it!

Sonar suffers from a lack of official tutorial videos and a poor quality manual. It has a reputation of having a steep learning curve and being frustrating to use as a result. I remember reading a thread on an EDM forum some time ago where someone had asked "what about Sonar?" and most of the replies were along the lines of "it's good if you can work out how to use it." Kids are choosing DAW's like Abelton because it's relatively easy to get up and running making cool beats in part because there are so many more "getting started" tutorials which are easy to follow. Sonar's manual is in my opinion an error strewn mess - the layout is awful (you find yourself going around in circles and wild goose chases and clicking through multiple pages to get what you want) and parts of it are so utterly wrong I'd be surprised if people weren't rejecting Sonar at the demo stage because of it. It's so frustrating to go through the steps of a manual only to find that it's as if they're describing a totally different program.

Cakewalk might not "have the staff," but I can't imagine the newbie documentation side of things is exactly helping sales.

I haven't had that experience with the documentation at all

Maybe my background in professional video production leaves me a little more critical and frustrated then most folks, but I've heard these complaints from a lot of other people as well.

As you know (but apparently others don't, LOL) it takes a lot of effort to do a well-produced video. It took me months to do the Advanced Workshop videos, and every one was scripted. Something like the demo video I did for the 30 freebie FX Chains is easier, and the "You Mix, We Master" ones aren't too difficult...but as soon as something needs to be instructional, it takes a significant amount of time and effort.

I'd like to do more videos, FWIW it takes me 1-2 hours of production work for every 1 minute of finished video because everything is scripted, edited, zoom+pan so the images still make sense on a tiny smartphone screen, etc.

Coming from someone who has also made videos in the past, I agree with Craig. the production work involved takes many hours to do minutes of video. Even some of my videos were done on the fly but still require lots of editing.
not to mention you need to have a good audio set up because most video capturing screen software doesn't recognize 2 audio sources (Sonars + onboard) which is needed to do narration work.

Well the company should have someone dedicated to this. It does not have to be mr.craig. All I am saying is the videos are a great way to convey info about the product. It's marketing at it's best.
