Hello sonarites.

Anybody having any luck using the US20x20 with the Win10 creator's update? That update started rolling out last april it seems, but Tascam's website is still informing customers about potential problems.

http://tascam.com/product/us-20x20/

"Preliminary testing with the Windows 10 Creator preview has exposed a compatibility issue which could result in performance and connection issues within your DAW. We recommend that users avoid installing this update preview until Microsoft has addressed the issue and/or new US-20x20 updates are available."

... Two months down the road now... I have not found any information on any update about this from Microsoft or Tascam... Anybody heard about something reported by folks like MS's Pete Brown or our friend Anderton, by any chance ?  ;-)

Because I had no luck finding any info regarding that topic so far...

Thanks!

In the programmer world some development tools have problems because of "optimized" library loading in the Creators update.

I understand Microsoft has already rolled out a fix. Not 100% to the development tool vendors satisfaction and discussions are ongoing.

Well I did some testing with a refurbed laptop that already had the creators update on it. I cannot get the tascam to work properly. Glitches and even a slower playback speed everytime I hit play. On the other hand, most drivers from other companies seems to be working fine. I bought the tascam on the promise that drivers are now developed in-house and that Gibson is now tied to cakewalk. I am beginning to worry... Guess I'll have to find an older win 10 iso...

Game mode is off by the way

I finally gave up and retired my 16x08 ... this even before the Creators update.  It was problematic on multiple machines, Win8.1 and Win10, SONAR, Studio One and Reaper ...

I'm really disappointed that a UMC 1820 outperforms it.

Yeah... Well I should have bought a MOTU Avb.... Think I will do just that. Also, a DAW manufacturer recently told me that they gave up selling tascam years ago. That is their legacy so far. Sad.

According to TASCAM: "As a temporary solution, open your Windows 10 Sound Properties control panel, select the US-20x20 as your Recording Device and - within the Advanced Tab - select '12 Channel' as the Default Format."

This allowed it to work properly in my setup, and I talked to some people at GearFest who did this and it also worked for them within those constraints. I suspect a fix is forthcoming.

The work around works very well (for playback tests at least). Will test recordings soon.
