I have an intermittent problem that is becoming a bit too regular for comfort.  When I record, the recorded part sometimes doesn't line up with the rest of the tracks.  It can be out by a few beats or even a few bars.   For instance if I am recording a verse and have set loop start at bar 10 and loop end at bar 18, the vocal print may not start until bar 12, be chopped at bar 18, and will carry on for a couple of bars in the lane below.

This is an intermittent problem, and when it does happen, it can be cured by going to preferences and pressing the "apply" button on the devices page.  But it's annoying when you find that the perfect take has not recorded properly.

Does anyone else have  this problem?  Does anyone know what might be the cause?

I have never had this problem.  Only suggestions I can think of is to try to adjust your buffer size or synchronization settings to see if it helps or try a different driver model to see if that has an effect.

Not sure if it's related, but FWIW, there are a couple different looping options in Sonar.  You can have them both going at the same time.  Make sure you have them set correctly.  There are the regular loop points that you can set, at the beginning and end to have Sonar loop a particular section of music, then there are the Record Punch In And Punch Out Loop Points, which can be set separately.  These actually tell Sonar where to start and end recording.

Hasn't happened recently, but I used to have a similar problem where the last recorded track would shift, after I recorded it.  I could see the waveform start drawing at the correct point during recording, but as soon as I stopped the recording, the track would shift over a measure or so, putting the track out of sync with the rest of the song. Drove me crazy.  Never did find a fix.  My guess was that it had to do with a rogue vst plugin which was causing timing problems.  If I closed everything down and restarted my computer, it would fix the problem.
