Upgraded to Win10 and everything works perfectly. I think it's a conspiracy to wean everyone off of other versions of the OS.

im still on 8.1 and running smooth :_)
fingers crossed.
happy for you though ;-)

I will throw my 2 cents in as well..... I don't remember the last time I had FREEZING issues with SONAR, it has been that long but since upgrading to the newest version (2016.04), I am having freeze issues loading GUITAR RIG 4 or TH3.... loading either into an existing project FREEZES my system.  I wasn't going to whine either but since we are all dumping our latest issues, I though I would add my 2 cents.

BSOD are almost always hardware issues but who knows, could be dim pro.
I myself have not had a crash since last year. ive had 2 sonar not responding but then eventually they caught up and went away, recovered from them.

what audio interface are you using ?

Audio I/O is Roland Octa-Capture with latest drivers.   I am using Window 10.  The video card drivers are from Geforce directly. The computer never Blue Screens, it just freezes while using Sonar Platinum.   If the problem is only with Sonar and no program, then I assume Sonar Platinum is not working properly with something on the computer.

I can use T-Racks without problems, IKmultimedia Ampeg, and other software that can run independent of Sonar, however, when I use them as plugins within Sonar, Sonar will Freeze.

It's not the computer, it's not the parts, it's Sonar somehow.

it was this one here:

I had similar issues back about 4 years ago with a Gforce GT610. I ended up pulling it out and just using onboard dualy's (DVI/VGA) it improved my hangs 10Xfold.
i think it had something to do with sonar as well but it was mostly my GT 610.
in previous X3 the way sonar hung on to drivers after a crash was a tough one. its one thing to crash but to crash then need 10 minutes or a cold re boot is just plain demoralizing.
but since X3 and platinum sonar has been rock solid with onboard video.
if your not gaming, why not just pull it. (unless your board has no onboard video)
might be worth a try though.

hey im not taking pot shots man. im only trying to throw a few things out there that might help.
my best to you.

I used to ruin with dual video cards and all that - but now I just use the on-board graphics and am quite happily running 2 display monitors off of it.  The HDMI out goes to one HDTV, and I run an adapter cable from the DVI output port of the computer to an HDMI port on another HDTV, and have ZERO headaches and no performance issues with Sonar.  I split things across the two HDTV's - Track View on one, and Console View on the other.

This-
"or updating my Symantec AV.  "

Is this not a known cause of issues with using Sonar. I think because a DAW is mostly offline Windows defender is more than enough protection.

And I myself am one who rid myself of blue screens by removing a Video card and just using my MoBo's 2 outputs.

I'm finding Windows Defender on Win 10 to be quite good, and the least intrusive option out there. That, combined with the SmartScreen feature, which pops up whenever you attempt to run an unsigned, recently downloaded file covers most bases. This is from someone who's run Norton Internet Security for years.

Checkebaby,

I am looking for a solution, so you won't find me thinking anyone is taking pot shots at me.  I consider you all very helpful in trying to assist me with my Freezing problem.

I am going to uninstall the PNY GeForce GTX 750 and it's drivers and see if Sonar Platinum will continue to freeze after the card removal.

Here is the back of the motherboard Gigabyte GA-Z97X-SLI.  Let's see how the built in video options treat Sonar Platinum when I take out the PNY GeForce GTX 750.

Wish me well !!!

I have the Gigabyte Z97X-SOC ATX LGA1150 which looks something like yours.

I've been running the 2 monitors without issue for 2 years now. A third monitor is possible too with either HDMI or Video port. So unless your a gamer I see no use for video cards these days.

Catus Music,

I just took out the PNY GeForce GTX 750 video card and uninstalled all of the NVIDIA drivers and software.   i am using the on board graphic card and I'm using the HD Graphic Software only.  I have both monitors working and I'm about to test to see if Sonar  Platinum causes me any problem.
