Who doesn't like a little Tull in 5/4?

I want to thank both James and Rich for indulging me on doing this song.
Living In The Past <------ Soundcloud link

Rich - Vox, flute
James - Guitars, Organ
Bapu - Bass, Drums, Strings
Drums = Slate SSD4, CLA Rock KIt
Strings = Kirk Hunter Pop Rock Strings
James' Big Organ = DimPro

I like a bit of Tull any time of year - why does it have to be on the 4th of May (or 5th of April in the rest of the world)?

April or May it sure did kick my butt! Thanks to Bapu for considering me to colab on this project.  This project was certainly a challenge for me.  I own a flute and don't consider myself to be a flute player.  This project, as simple as it my sound, was a stretch for me.  I have a new found respect for flute players.  Flute is a difficult instrument to play.

Thanks everyone for the compliments.  Bapu did an upstanding job on the mix and Bass part as did James on the Organ and guitar.

This is really, really nice work. Everything right where it should be, with a very nice vocal performance. One of the better covers I've heard on this forum. Well done gents.

Excellent cover. Mix sounds good but I agree that the vocal needs to come up a touch... or perhaps just an eq boost at the right freq. reat job.

Wow, amazingly good.. and he said he's NOT a flute player. phooey, if you weren't you are now. Only very minor to criticize is drums do sound ITB. Needs some ape s--t rolls. Oh Oh I mentioned monkeys...

It sounds jerky and out of key. The original seems a lot smoother. Somehow the beginning sounds off key. The flute tone eventually gets better throughout the song.

Pete in defense of my fellow collaborators for their contributions, I concede that the flute is the weakest link in this song and most likely takes away from their efforts.  So the jerky & out of key characterization you mention is most likely coming from the flute.  Like I previously mentioned, I am NOT a flute player.  I told Ed that I came close to throwing in the towel on this song.  This is no exaggeration, if I played my flute more than an hour prior to this song I'm lying.   Yes, I had a very difficult time playing in tune, I had a hard time articulating the notes.  The flute does not resonate like my saxophone and so my techinque sounds choppy.    I had difficulty holding the instrument especially on the quick passages due to open note fingerings.  Shoot!  I started hyper-ventilating a couple of times .  Setting my incompetence asside, assuming I am allowed to toot my own horn (pun in ten did), I think I did a knock-out  job.  What's your point?
