I'm not using groove clips. I also tried uninstalling Melodyne completely and reinstalling with no luck. CbB crashes hard when opening any project with Melodyne. If I keep trying it will eventually open, but it can take 4 or 5 tries or more to successfully open the file. I'm also seeing the issue where no algorithm is chosen when a Region FX is opened. The crashes started with the 2018.08 updates and continues with 2018.09 (Build 29, 64 Bit). Interesting note, The run time version of Melodyne reinstalls itself when Melodyne 4.2 installs.

Sorry - meant Region FX not Groove Clip! - I'll edit the original post.

Guys, try uninstalling all Melodyne versions and then reinstall the update with the latest CbB.  Worked for me.

I did try that... since doing so, the Melodyne editor runs a measure and a half ahead of the track view window, which is tracking with the song correctly. Makes it rather difficult to edit.. I also noticed that the first thing Melodyne installs is the run time version. So this fixed none of my issues, and induced more...

I need to see if I didn’t uninstall Melodyne before I upgraded Studio.

I have not crashed upon opening any files, but I am crashing at least once a day.

My big issue is that I can no longer convert audio to midi, and then Cakewalk freezes.

This problem affects some with Melodyne v4.2.0.020. It has been reported to Celemony a couple of times. There is a workaround, first create a region FX from the clip, make sure the clip is using a reasonable Melodyne algorithm then drag the clip from the audio track to an instrument/MIDI track.

Studio, Editor and Essential are all the same program. So you wouldn't need to have upgraded. It's just the license that dictates what level of functionality you have.

Before I upgraded my laptop, I had editor on my desktop PC and essentials on my laptop, with exactly the same version installed.

As soon as I authorised editor for my laptop, it picked it up right away.

Up until that point, I could take my iLok out of my desktop and plug in into my laptop in order to use editor.

The issue I'm having with Melodyne has been seen before and there is a thread concerning it here from 2014. I've not yet found a solution, nor have I have any response from Melodyne in two days... although in reading through the referenced thread, it would appear to be a Cakewalk problem. Something about a rounded algorithm, having to do with the tempo... Update. I uninstalled Melodyne 4.2, and reinstalled 4.1 and the syncing problem goes away... Now to figure out how to downgrade CbB and I'll be happy...

I’m using most current Melodyne Studio 4.2. version

I’ve noticed since current update (4.2) installed, working in ARA in Sonar (23.10.0 build 14 2017 10 x64 the (the final under Gibson, i.e. not BandLab Cakewalk version)) my default algorithm selection (Melodic) is not used and my clip regions selections (typically vocal) always load as Percussive, I have then go and select desired Algorithm?

(As I don’t normally work in standalone mode I haven’t tested this)

Interested in if this has been reported by others, and if there’s a solution?

fwiw, anything that has a standalone version should be run standalone after updating, before launching it in the daw (while the daw isn't running and ideally after a reboot, just to be sure )

JohnEgan, yes there are issues with 4.2 I've been working with Melodyne on. One is a syncing issue within the Melodyne editor, the other is the algorithm issue you observed. I've gone back to 4.1 until a fix is available. I also have an issue with the last two versions of CbB crashing hard when loading a project that have used Melodyne. I sometimes have to try 5 or more times until the project loads. Once loaded it behaves as long as you don't closer CbB. This started with the August updates and is still an issue for me. My last version of SPLAT works fine... I'm eyeing up that studio one crossgrade...
